What you need before adding your card
- An iPhone running iOS 18 or later, as specified by Axis Bank.
- An active, eligible Axis Bank Visa or Mastercard credit card. Apple’s current India participating-bank list names Axis Bank credit cards on those networks; eligibility can vary by card, so confirm with the issuer if yours is not accepted. Apple’s India bank list
- Access to the phone number or banking app needed to complete Axis Bank’s security verification.

Choose how to add your Axis Bank card
Both routes are supported. The Wallet route lets you scan or enter card details; the Axis Bank app route starts from the card already shown in your banking account. You only need one route.

- Open Wallet on your iPhone and tap the Add (+) button.
- Hold your card near the back of the iPhone to scan it, or choose manual entry and enter the card details.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, then complete any verification requested by Axis Bank.
Add the card through Axis Bank Mobile Banking
- Sign in to the Axis Bank Mobile Banking app.
- Select the eligible credit card and tap Add to Apple Wallet.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and complete any verification requested by the bank.
Axis Bank may require an additional security step, such as an SMS one-time password or in-app verification. The card is not ready for Apple Pay until that issuer verification is complete. These setup checks are separate from paying at checkout. Axis Bank’s Apple Pay help page

How to pay in a store with your iPhone
- In the Axis Bank Mobile Banking app, open Manage Usage Limits and make sure Tap and Pay is enabled.
- At a merchant with a contactless payment terminal, double-click the iPhone’s side button.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, then hold the iPhone near the reader.
- Wait for the Done checkmark before putting your phone away.
A contactless symbol on the terminal is a useful acceptance cue, but it does not mean every merchant accepts Apple Pay. If the payment is declined, check the bank’s usage setting and card limits as well as the terminal’s contactless support. Axis Bank’s Apple Pay help page

- In the Axis Bank Mobile Banking app, check Manage Usage Limits and enable Online Shopping.
- At checkout in a supported app or on the web, select Apple Pay.
- Review the payment and delivery details, authenticate as prompted, and wait for the Done confirmation.
Apple says Apple Pay can be used in stores, apps and on the web. The merchant still needs to offer Apple Pay at checkout. Apple’s India launch announcement
Fix common setup and payment problems
The card does not appear in the Axis app
- Check that it is an eligible Visa or Mastercard credit card and is active.
- Update the Axis Bank Mobile Banking app, then check the card list again.
- If it remains unavailable, contact Axis Bank to confirm eligibility.
Wallet says “Card Not Added” or asks you to contact the issuer
Finish any pending bank verification. If the prompt persists, Axis Bank lists toll-free support numbers 1800 4030 and 1800 8911. Axis Bank’s Apple Pay help page

A store payment fails
Confirm that the terminal supports contactless payments, Tap and Pay is enabled in the Axis app, and your card’s usage limits allow the transaction. Try the physical card or another accepted payment method if the terminal does not take contactless payments.
Card security, lost phones and rewards
Apple says the actual card number is not stored on Apple servers or shared with merchants. Apple Pay uses a device-specific Device Account Number, or token, for payments. Tokenization is a security measure, not a guarantee against every form of fraud. Apple Pay security and service information
If your iPhone is lost, use Find My and Lost Mode to suspend Apple Pay, and contact Axis Bank to report or block the credit card if needed. Axis Bank also says its card rewards and benefits continue when the card is used with Apple Pay; that is the issuer’s published policy. Axis Bank’s Apple Pay help page
