The reported extra $184 million is prejudgment interest—not a new jury verdict. Law360 reported on October 5, 2026, that a judge awarded Masimo that amount on top of the $634,313,913 patent-damages judgment entered against Apple in July. The combined amount is about $818 million, before any post-judgment interest that may accrue.
What the $184 million represents
A jury found Apple liable for patent infringement in November 2025 and returned a verdict of about $634 million. On July 20, 2026, U.S. District Judge James V. Selna entered final judgment setting damages at exactly $634,313,913. The judgment found that Apple infringed claims 11–14 of U.S. Patent No. 10,433,776, and that those claims were not invalid. It also concluded that the infringement was not willful. Read the July 20 final judgment.

The July judgment reserved pre- and post-judgment interest for further briefing. Law360 reported on October 5, 2026, that the judge awarded Masimo $184 million in prejudgment interest. The interest is an addition to the existing damages award; it does not change the jury’s verdict or create a second verdict. Law360’s October 5 report.
MacRumors described the combined damages and reported interest as about $818 million. That is a rounded total, not a separate court award, and it does not account for any post-judgment interest that may accrue. MacRumors coverage.

What the July judgment did—and did not—order
The judgment resolved the specified patent claims and dismissed the remaining claims with prejudice. It denied Masimo’s requests for an injunction and attorneys’ fees. In the court’s words, Masimo had not established “either irreparable harm or that Plaintiffs lack an adequate monetary remedy.” See the judgment’s injunction ruling.
That means the district-court judgment itself did not bar Apple Watch sales. The available reporting on the later interest award does not establish its calculation method, the dates used, or the judge’s detailed reasoning. Those details should not be inferred from the $184 million figure.

Why the separate ITC dispute matters
The district-court damages case and the Apple Watch import dispute at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) are separate proceedings. They involve different asserted patents and different remedies: the district-court case produced a monetary judgment, while the ITC matter concerned import restrictions.

Danaher, Masimo’s parent company, disclosed that in April 2026 the ITC found Apple’s second redesign did not violate the existing exclusion order. That ITC finding does not undo or decide the district-court damages judgment. Danaher’s SEC filing.
