What is Tenzing about?
Apple describes Tenzing as a feature based on true events. Genden Phuntsok plays Tenzing Norgay, while Tom Hiddleston plays Edmund Hillary. In Apple’s synopsis, Tenzing’s wife Dawa, played by Thinley Lhamo, encourages him, and expedition secretary Jill Henderson, played by Caitríona Balfe, becomes an ally as they seek to persuade Colonel John Hunt, played by Willem Dafoe, that Tenzing should be part of the British climbing team.

The story contrasts the characters’ backgrounds, class, ambitions and views of Everest. Apple’s official synopsis puts that contrast this way: “Where Western climbers see ‘Everest’ as something to be conquered, Tenzing reveres ‘Chomolungma’ as the sacred mother goddess.” Apple Original Films’ announcement and the official film page list the film as TV-PG, drama and adventure, and provide its trailer and cast and crew information.
