The short answer: Apple lists the iPhone 18 Pro Max at a starting price of $1,299 in the US. OPPO’s Find X9 Ultra has been priced in the UK at £1,449 and launched in Spain at €1,699. Those figures come from different countries, currencies and retail contexts, so they cannot be subtracted to produce a price difference. On paper, the Find X9 Ultra has more rear camera modules and higher-resolution sensors, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max uses a variable-aperture main camera and publishes a video playback figure rather than a battery capacity. Which phone is “better” depends on your local price, your existing devices and services, and what you photograph and charge.
Availability: where each phone is sold right now
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, opened preorders on September 12, and set availability for September 18, 2026. Apple lists the Pro Max in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage configurations, with a US starting price of $1,299 (Apple Newsroom, September 9, 2026).

The Find X9 Ultra has a different and less uniform rollout. PhoneArena’s comparison database dates its announcement to April 21, 2026. TechRadar reported UK retail availability from May 8, 2026, with the review unit configured as 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, and said the phone was not available in the US when its review was published. Unless you confirm current US stock from an authorized seller, do not assume the OPPO can be bought there, or that a US unit would carry the same warranty and carrier support as a UK or Spanish one.

Cameras: more lenses on paper, a different approach in Apple’s design
The Find X9 Ultra’s published camera list is longer. It has a 200MP wide camera at f/1.5, a 50MP ultra-wide, a 200MP telephoto and a 50MP ultra-telephoto. The iPhone 18 Pro Max’s published main camera is a 48MP Fusion Main with variable aperture. A longer list of modules and megapixels does not settle which phone produces better photos. Sensor size, processing, lens quality, autofocus and the software that merges frames all shape the final image, and none of those is measured in the spec sheets.
What to test before deciding
- Focal length use: Count how often you shoot at 1x, 2x, 5x and beyond. The Find X9 Ultra’s telephoto modules matter only if you use that range.
- Low light and moving subjects: Look for matched independent samples taken at the same time and scene, not single showcase photos.
- Color style and editing: If you edit in mobile apps or desktop software, check how each phone’s raw or log output fits your workflow.
- Video stabilization and storage: 8K at 30fps and 4K at 120fps produce large files. Plan storage before you choose a configuration.
Battery and charging: three different measures
Apple’s battery figure is a video playback estimate: up to 45 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro Max in eSIM-only configuration. OPPO’s figures are a battery capacity (7,050mAh typical, 6,890mAh rated) and charging speeds (up to 100W wired, 50W wireless). None of these shows how long a phone lasts through a day of mixed use.

Apple’s playback figure depends on the test conditions Apple used, and the eSIM-only qualifier matters. A physical SIM or heavy 5G use can change endurance. OPPO’s capacity figure tells you how much energy the battery holds but not how efficiently the processor and display use it. Charging wattage tells you how fast the battery refills under ideal conditions, and it depends on the charger you own.

Price difference: why no single number works

These three numbers differ in currency, tax treatment, retailer margin, launch timing and storage. A figure in pounds or euros cannot be converted into a dollar gap without assuming an exchange rate, a tax rate and a matching storage tier, and each of those assumptions changes the answer. The Spanish promotions have ended, so the €1,699 figure is a launch reference, not a current offer. Prices also move after launch.

How to get a real price difference
- Choose one country where you can legally buy both phones from an authorized seller.
- Match storage exactly. Compare 512GB with 512GB, not the lowest tier of one model with the middle tier of the other.
- Add local sales tax or VAT as it applies at checkout, and any import duty if you are buying across a border.
- Check the warranty length, whether it is an international or local warranty, and where repairs are handled.
- Confirm the carrier and network bands for the exact model, then calculate the difference in your local currency.

- The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the more natural choice if you already use an iPhone, Mac, iPad or Apple services, want iOS, or value Apple’s variable-aperture main camera and its published playback estimate.
- The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is the more natural choice if you prefer Android and ColorOS, want more distinct rear focal lengths and high-resolution sensors, or charge quickly and often and want a 100W wired option.
