The iPhone 16 is the more compact phone with Apple’s ecosystem and MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging. The Redmi Turbo 5 (India model) offers a larger 120Hz screen, a much larger stated battery, 100W wired charging and a longer stated Android update commitment. Neither wins on every line of the spec sheet, and the India price gap changes too much between retailer listings to quote as one fixed figure.
How the two phones compare on paper
The figures below come from manufacturer specifications and secondary comparison listings. None of them comes from a controlled head-to-head test, so the table shows what each phone is designed to offer, not how the two perform side by side.

Display and size
The Redmi’s screen is 6.59 inches against 6.1 inches on the iPhone 16, a difference of 0.49 inches on the diagonal. Its panel can run at up to 120Hz, while the comparison listing gives the iPhone 16 a 60Hz refresh rate. For many buyers the practical difference is a larger viewing area and smoother scrolling on the Redmi, and a phone that is easier to use one-handed on the iPhone.
Size and refresh rate do not measure panel quality. Brightness, colour accuracy and outdoor visibility are not tested in the published specifications used here, so treat the display as a usability difference, not a ranking.

Performance, software and gaming
The two phones use different chips and different operating systems. The Apple A18 runs iOS, while the Dimensity 8500-Ultra runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3. The published specifications include no gaming benchmark, frame-rate test or thermal test for either phone, so the question of which is better for gaming cannot be answered from specifications alone. What the specifications do show is that the Redmi offers a 120Hz display and up to 12GB of RAM, while the iPhone 16 offers iOS and Apple’s own services.
Moving between iOS and Android is the bigger practical decision. Apple-only services such as iMessage and FaceTime work best across other Apple devices, so buyers who already use a Mac, iPad or Apple Watch should weigh that before comparing spec sheets.

Battery life and charging
Battery capacity and playback estimates
Xiaomi lists a 7540mAh typical battery for the Redmi Turbo 5. Apple gives the iPhone 16 an estimate of up to 22 hours of video playback. These two figures measure different things. Battery capacity is an input, and playback time is an output measured under Apple’s own test conditions. Neither figure tells you how long a phone will last with your screen brightness, network signal and apps, so the Redmi’s larger capacity suggests more room for heavy use but does not prove it will last longer in practice.

Wired charging
The Redmi Turbo 5 supports 100W wired charging and 27W wired reverse charging, which means it can charge other devices from its battery. Xiaomi notes that actual charging speed varies with the environment and conditions. Xiaomi’s India package list includes a charger, a cable and a case, so the 100W charger is in the box. The iPhone 16 needs a 20W adapter or higher to reach Apple’s stated charging condition, and that adapter is sold separately. If you already own an adapter, check its wattage before assuming the iPhone will charge at its stated rate.

Cameras
The Redmi has the larger main sensor resolution at 50MP and adds optical image stabilisation (OIS) to its main camera. The iPhone 16 uses a 48MP Fusion main camera with a 2x telephoto option, and its 12MP Ultra Wide is the wider lens on that phone. The Redmi’s Ultra Wide is 8MP.
Megapixel counts do not decide image quality. Sensor size, processing, lens quality and software all affect results, and no controlled side-by-side camera test is established in the published specifications used here. If photography is central to your choice, compare sample photos taken in the same scenes on both phones before deciding.

Durability and software support
Both phones list water and dust resistance, but the ratings are not directly comparable. Apple cites IP68 under IEC 60529. Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, and the published specifications used here do not establish the test conditions behind those ratings. A reader who plans to use the phone in wet or dusty conditions should read each manufacturer’s rating definition rather than treating the highest number as a clear advantage.

“Xiaomi is providing four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the REDMI Turbo 5, ensuring users continue to receive new features, platform enhancements and security improvements over the long term.”
This is Xiaomi’s own commitment, not independent confirmation of future delivery. The five-year iPhone 16 support figure appears only in a secondary comparison and has not been checked against Apple documentation, so it should not be treated as an official Apple promise.
Price difference in India
The two most useful price points come from retailer comparison listings accessed on 4 October 2026. They disagree, and they are snapshots rather than guaranteed offers.

Why the price gap is not a fixed number
- The two snapshots were taken from different pages, and the iPhone price differs by ₹19,410 between them.
- The iPhone 16 comparison lists a 128GB base, while the Redmi figure is for 256GB storage. A like-for-like comparison needs an iPhone 16 priced at the same storage size, which requires its own price check.
- Seller, offer status, bank or exchange discounts and the date of each listing can change the price on the day you buy.
How to check the price before you buy
- Open each seller’s listing and note the RAM and storage shown on the product page, not only in the title.
- Compare the same storage size on both phones, for example 256GB against 256GB.
- Record the date and whether any bank, exchange or coupon offer is included in the price.
- Confirm the regional variant and supported network bands. Xiaomi’s India page documents regional bands for the Redmi Turbo 5.
- Check the warranty terms and the package contents on the seller’s listing.

Quick Recap
- Choose the iPhone 16 if you prefer iOS, want a smaller phone, already use Apple devices, or want MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W.
- Choose the REDMI Turbo 5 if you want a larger 120Hz screen, a much larger stated battery capacity, 100W wired charging, 256GB storage in the India configuration, or the longer Android and security update commitment Xiaomi documents.
