Yes—if the discount is meaningful. The Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation, 2022) remains a fast, capable tablet in 2026, with an M2 chip, ProMotion LCD, Face ID, Thunderbolt/USB 4 and Apple Pencil 2 support. It is most attractive as a certified-refurbished or carefully checked used device. If its price approaches a newer iPad Air or iPad Pro, the newer model usually offers better long-term value.
Apple identifies this model as the iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation), also commonly called the M2 iPad Pro. It is not the 2022 standard iPad, and its generation number differs from the 12.9-inch 2022 iPad Pro (6th generation).

Full specifications
Display
- 11-inch diagonal LED-backlit IPS Liquid Retina display
- 2388 × 1668 resolution, 264 pixels per inch
- ProMotion, P3 wide color, True Tone and 600-nit maximum SDR brightness

- Apple Pencil hover support
This is a high-quality LCD, not an OLED or mini-LED panel. The 12.9-inch 2022 iPad Pro has a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display; the 11-inch model does not, so HDR contrast and black levels are less dramatic.

| Wi-Fi | 9.74 × 7.02 × 0.23 inches | 1.03 lb (466g) |

Depending on region, wireless specifications include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and 5G cellular. Cellular models use regional modem bands and may support nano-SIM and eSIM; GPS/GNSS is available on cellular versions. Verify the exact model number and carrier compatibility before importing one. Apple’s regional information is at support.apple.com/en-gb/111842.
Apple rates the 28.65-watt-hour battery for up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing or video playback, or up to 9 hours using cellular data. These are controlled tests, not a runtime guarantee; brightness, games, editing, cellular reception and battery age all matter.

- USB-C connector supports Thunderbolt/USB 4 - Works with Apple Pencil (2nd gen) & Magic Keyboard/Smart Keyboard Folio
The original box contained the iPad, USB-C charge cable and 20W USB-C power adapter. Pencil, keyboard and case were optional.
Port and external-workflow advantages
The USB-C connector supports Thunderbolt 3, USB 4, USB 3, charging and DisplayPort. It can drive an external display up to 6K at 60Hz and connect fast storage, docks, card readers and other accessories. This is substantially more capable than the slower USB-C implementations on entry-level iPads.
How the M2 holds up in 2026
The M2 has ample headroom for browsing, office apps, PDF annotation, multitasking, Procreate, RAW photos, 4K editing, demanding games, external displays and professional iPadOS applications. The practical limitation is usually not the processor but iPadOS, display technology, storage, accessory cost or the asking price. Newer chips can be faster and more efficient, so this is not a claim of parity with the latest iPad Pro.

Display: excellent LCD, not XDR
ProMotion makes scrolling and Pencil input feel smooth, while lamination, wide color and True Tone benefit drawing, reading, games and video. The antireflective coating helps, but glossy glass can still be difficult in direct sunlight.
Choose the 11-inch model when portability matters. Choose the 12.9-inch 2022 Pro when you need a larger canvas, split-screen workspace, video timeline or mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR. Apple’s comparison tool shows the size and feature differences: 11-inch versus 12.9-inch comparison.

| Accessory | Compatibility | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Pencil (2nd generation) | Yes | Best match, especially for existing owners; supports hover |
| Apple Pencil (USB-C) | Yes | Lower-cost writing and drawing option with fewer advanced features |
| Apple Pencil Pro | Do not assume compatibility | Designed for newer compatible iPads; verify Apple’s current list |
| Magic Keyboard for 11-inch iPad Pro | Yes, with the correct generation-compatible model | Optional and expensive |
A Magic Keyboard can make typing more comfortable, but it does not turn iPadOS into macOS. Window management, file access, background processing and desktop-only applications remain different. Occasional typists may get better value from a cheaper Bluetooth keyboard or folio.

Best uses—and where it falls short
Drawing and notes
The laminated ProMotion panel, Pencil hover and compact size make it excellent for handwritten notes, markup and illustration. An 11-inch canvas can feel tight for large artwork, sheet music or persistent split-screen work, and the Pencil is an extra purchase.
Students and office users
It handles PDFs, textbooks, presentations, calls, email, spreadsheets and portable external-display work very well. It is a poor replacement for a laptop if you require desktop-only software, extensive local file management, full browser extensions, complex development environments, multiple large monitors or traditional windowing.
Photo and video work
M2 media engines, ProRes capability and Thunderbolt storage support mobile editing and RAW photography. Storage matters: 128GB suits light projects, 256GB is a sensible general minimum, 512GB suits serious creative work, and 1TB/2TB models target large libraries and specialized workflows. ProRes recording restrictions apply to 128GB, so check the exact Apple specification before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- 128GB Wi-Fi: Basic schoolwork, streaming and light creative use; easiest to outgrow.
- 256GB Wi-Fi: Best balanced choice for most buyers.
- 512GB: Better for games, offline media, photos and video projects.
- 1TB or 2TB: Specialized professional use; these also include 16GB RAM.
- Cellular: Worth paying for frequent travel or field work; otherwise phone tethering is often sufficient.
2022 iPad Pro versus alternatives
| Alternative | Choose it when | Trade-off versus the 2022 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Newer iPad Air | You want newer hardware and Apple Pencil Pro support, and do not need ProMotion, Face ID, Thunderbolt or LiDAR | Usually fewer Pro-specific features |
| Standard iPad | Browsing, streaming, calls, casual games and basic schoolwork dominate | Less capable display, port, audio and storage options |
| Newer iPad Pro | You prioritize the latest chip, OLED or other newest features and maximum remaining life | Higher price |
| 12.9-inch 2022 Pro | You need the largest workspace and XDR mini-LED display | Heavier and less convenient handheld use |
| MacBook Air | You need macOS applications, desktop file management or conventional multitasking | Not a tablet; no Pencil-first workflow |

2026 pricing: compare the whole package
Apple refurbished prices observed on August 18, 2026 included $789 for a 256GB Wi-Fi 11-inch Pro, $959 for a 256GB Wi-Fi + Cellular listing on the category page, $959 for 512GB Wi-Fi and $1,129 for 512GB Wi-Fi + Cellular. An individual cellular 256GB listing showed $839, demonstrating how inventory and configuration prices vary. Treat these as dated snapshots, not permanent MSRP. See Apple’s refurbished category and the individual listing.
In the same captured period, Apple listed an 11-inch iPad Air M3 256GB Wi-Fi + Cellular at $799 and a 512GB Wi-Fi version at $839. Standard refurbished iPads started around $379 for an A16 128GB Wi-Fi model. Those overlaps make the Air the most important value comparison.
Budget for accessories: Apple’s refurbished store showed Apple Pencil 2 at $109 and Apple Pencil USB-C at $69 at the time captured. AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss was shown at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year on the cited U.S. product page; terms, deductibles and eligibility apply. - Open Settings → General → About and confirm “iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation),” capacity and Wi-Fi or cellular status.
- Have the seller erase the iPad. During setup it must not request the previous owner’s Apple Account; otherwise Activation Lock remains.
- For cellular models, verify carrier unlock status, regional bands, SIM/eSIM behavior and a clean IMEI where applicable.
- Inspect the display for dead pixels, touch dead zones, scratches, lifting or delamination, and test Face ID.
- Connect a USB-C charger, drive or accessory. Charging and data should remain stable without an unusually loose connector.
- Ask for a battery diagnostic or buy from a refurbisher that states a battery standard and offers returns. Cycle count alone does not establish battery health.
- Confirm exactly which cable, charger, Pencil, keyboard and case are included.
Buy, or skip?
Buy when
- The price is clearly below a newer iPad Air or Pro with comparable storage.
- You specifically want ProMotion, Face ID, four speakers, Thunderbolt/USB 4 or Apple Pencil 2.
- You need a compact creative tablet rather than macOS.
- You can obtain reliable battery condition, clean ownership status and return protection.
Skip when
- The discount is small compared with a newer model.
- You require OLED, Apple Pencil Pro or the newest hardware features.
- You need a true laptop operating system.
- You need a larger canvas but are only considering the 11-inch size.
- The seller will not verify Activation Lock, battery condition or cellular status.
The Bottom Line
The 2022 iPad Pro 11-inch is still a highly capable compact tablet in 2026. Target the 256GB Wi-Fi model for general use, move to 512GB or more for serious media work, and buy cellular only for a real mobility need. Its value depends on the gap between its refurbished price and newer iPad Air or Pro models—not on the M2 badge alone.
