Choose Apple HomeView by placement first. The tabletop model is the simpler choice for a counter, nightstand, or side table. The wall-mounted model is for a permanent installation and needs a separately purchased compatible mount, so its real cost is higher than the device price alone. Apple announced both at $299 in the United States, with availability beginning November 13, 2026, in the initial markets.
Apple has not published internal storage capacity or storage tiers for either model. Do not use an iCloud+ subscription size as a proxy for device storage. This guide reflects Apple’s October 13, 2026 launch announcement; independent hands-on performance testing is not yet available.

What Apple HomeView is, and what you are choosing
Apple HomeView is a shared household display built around a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, a speaker, Apple Home controls, communication features, entertainment apps, and camera views. Apple announced two physical versions rather than different performance or storage grades:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The two models are presented as having the same feature set and display size. The meaningful buying distinction is physical: one sits on furniture and tilts, while the other is designed around a wall and requires an installation accessory.
Which model should you buy?
Choose tabletop HomeView for flexibility
The tabletop version suits households that may move the display between rooms or do not want to alter a wall. A kitchen counter, bedroom nightstand, hallway console, or living-room side table gives you a place to use the tilting screen without planning cable routing or drilling. The domed speaker base also keeps the device visually similar to a compact tabletop smart display rather than a fixed control panel.
It is the lower-risk purchase if you are still deciding where HomeView will be most useful. You can test the household routine—checking cameras, controlling lights, starting music, or making a FaceTime call—without committing to a permanent location. The tabletop colors are also broader, with four choices instead of two.

Pick the wall version when you want HomeView to stay in one location, such as beside an entrance, in a kitchen work area, or near a family command center. Apple describes its audio as tuned for on-wall placement, and the separate enclosure is intended to be installed rather than placed on furniture.
Wall mounting makes the screen easier to position at a consistent height and can keep a counter clear. It also introduces practical constraints: you must select a compatible mount, provide the required power or network connection, and confirm that the wall and electrical layout are suitable. The wall device does not include the mount in its announced $299 price.
Use placement, not color, as the deciding factor
Color can narrow the final choice, but it should not drive the model decision. Silver and space gray are available for both versions. Starlight and rose pink are exclusive to the tabletop model. If you need a particular finish, verify local inventory because Apple’s announcement does not promise that every color will be stocked in every market.

How much does a wall installation cost?
For a tabletop setup, the announced hardware price is straightforward: $299 U.S. before tax. A wall installation starts at the same $299 device price, then adds a Schneider Home mount. Apple announced three mount types with these U.S. starting prices:
| Mount | Announced U.S. starting price | Availability stated by Apple | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector | $59.95 | Orderable from October 13, 2026 | That the installation location and cable arrangement suit USB-C power |
| Power Mount AC Wired | $79.95 | Orderable from October 13, 2026 | Existing wiring, electrician requirements, and local electrical rules |
| Power Mount PoE Wired | $129.95 | Planned for early 2027 | PoE network equipment, cable path, and the final release date |
These are Apple’s announced U.S. starting prices, not installation quotes. They do not include tax, labor, wall repair, network equipment, or any local price difference. Before ordering, confirm that the mount is available in your country and that its power method matches the location. If you need an electrician or new Ethernet cabling, those costs can exceed the accessory price.
Storage: what is known and what is not
Apple’s October 13 announcement does not state a built-in storage capacity for either HomeView model and does not list storage tiers. There is therefore no evidence-based “best capacity” to select at launch. Treat any retailer listing or informal claim that assigns a number to HomeView storage as unconfirmed until Apple publishes an official specification.
iCloud+ is a separate cloud service. Apple Support lists iCloud+ tiers of 50 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB, 6 TB, and 12 TB; those figures describe subscription cloud space, not the internal storage of the HomeView device. See Apple’s explanation of iCloud+ storage plans: Apple Support: iCloud+ storage.
That distinction matters for camera features. Apple says some functions, including video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video footage, require an eligible iCloud+ plan. Supported camera counts and specific plan features can vary, so choose a plan based on the cameras and recognition features you intend to use rather than on HomeView’s unknown device capacity. A cloud subscription may be required for a feature even though it does not add local storage to HomeView.

Wall mounts and power
The wall model cannot be treated as a complete out-of-box wall kit. Select one of the announced Schneider Home mounts and check the physical and electrical requirements for your installation. The USB-C Wall Connector and AC Wired versions are listed for order from launch, while the PoE Wired version is planned for early 2027. Availability, local pricing, and installation rules can change, so confirm them at checkout.

Apple Home, Matter, and the accessory ecosystem
HomeView works with Apple Home Collection products and with other Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories. Apple’s new collection includes cameras, thermostats, and a lock developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Apple says the collection begins in December, with select accessories arriving in early 2027.
Compatibility is not identical across devices. A Matter accessory may expose a different set of controls from a device designed specifically for Apple Home, and some automations depend on the accessory manufacturer. Check the individual accessory’s supported functions, hub requirements, firmware, and regional availability instead of assuming that every Home-compatible product supports every HomeView feature.
iPhone or iPad for setup and multiple users
Initial setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software. Apple Home Collection accessories use an iPhone running the latest operating system for NFC pairing. Plan to have that device available, signed in to the intended household account, and updated before you begin.

Camera capabilities vary by model and service. Apple says certain intelligent recognition and video-description functions require setup through an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan. Confirm the camera’s Home compatibility, recording support, subscription requirement, and supported region before buying it for a HomeView dashboard.
What HomeView can do
Apple positions HomeView as a household interface rather than a single-purpose monitor. The announced capabilities include:
- Control of smart-home devices, scenes, and automations through Apple Home.
- Viewing camera feeds through the Home Camera face, with up to nine video feeds displayed.
- FaceTime and Messages.
- Music and podcasts.
- Apple TV and compatible third-party audio and video apps.
- Apple News in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Some apps require a paired compatible iPhone nearby, and some content requires its own subscription. App availability and functions vary by region. Apple describes these capabilities in its announcement; they have not been independently tested for this guide.

Personalization for a shared household
HomeView can recognize up to six people and personalize each person’s Home Screen. Apple says personal information in apps such as Messages and Calendar appears only when the enrolled user is recognized, their paired iPhone or iPad is present, and that device has been recently unlocked.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Those are Apple’s stated privacy and recognition behaviors, not an independent security audit. Households should still decide which people to enroll, what notifications to expose on a shared screen, and where the device can be viewed by visitors.
The display is shared, but the content is conditional
Because HomeView combines family controls with personal apps, location matters. A kitchen or entryway may be ideal for automations and cameras but less suitable for showing private calendar or message information. A bedroom nightstand may be convenient for one person but less useful as a shared family dashboard. Use Apple’s recognition settings and the physical placement together rather than assuming every screen is appropriate for every room.
Setup checklist
Prepare the following before the device arrives:
- A compatible iPhone or iPad with the latest available software.
- Your Apple account credentials and the household Apple Home configuration.
- A stable Wi-Fi network in the planned location.
- For the wall model, the selected Schneider Home mount and a suitable power or PoE connection.
- Any Apple Home or Matter accessories you want to control, with current firmware.
- An eligible iCloud+ plan if your intended camera features require one.
Tabletop setup
- Place HomeView on a stable, ventilated surface near power and within reliable Wi-Fi range.
- Connect power and follow the on-screen pairing prompts.
- Use the compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software to add HomeView to your Apple Home household.
- Choose the people who should have personalized access and complete recognition setup.
- Add compatible scenes, cameras, and accessories, then confirm which controls each device exposes.
- Test the screen angle, speaker volume, camera views, and personal-content behavior from the room where the device will remain.
Wall-mounted setup
- Confirm the wall surface, viewing height, cable route, and electrical or Ethernet requirements before drilling or wiring.
- Install the selected mount according to its instructions, using qualified electrical help where local rules require it.
- Attach the wall-mounted HomeView device and connect the approved power or PoE source.
- Complete pairing and household setup with the compatible, updated iPhone or iPad.
- Verify that the screen is readable from the main approach path and that camera or personal information is not visible where it should not be.
- Test the network connection, audio, automations, and any camera subscription features.
Availability, launch markets, and language limits
Apple opened preorders on October 13, 2026, in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Apple states product availability from November 13 in those listed markets. Singapore preorders start October 15, and South African availability starts November 13 through Apple Authorized Resellers.
Apple says HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is not currently available in iOS there. Apple lists Siri AI in English for the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, with Canadian French support planned through a software update. Country availability, language support, and accessory compatibility should be checked again when you place an order.
Which configuration fits common households?
You rent or move devices between rooms
Buy the tabletop model. It avoids wall work and lets you relocate the display as your routines change. Select a color that fits the room, but keep the decision focused on the furniture location and access to power.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
You are remodeling or already have a wired wall location
The wall-mounted model can make sense when the installation point is permanent and the wiring is already planned. Choose the mount whose power method matches the infrastructure, and budget for labor or network hardware that Apple’s accessory price does not include.
You mainly want camera monitoring
Either model can serve as a camera display because Apple describes the Home Camera face for up to nine feeds. The deciding factors become screen location, viewing angle, camera compatibility, and whether your chosen recognition or video-description functions require iCloud+.
You expect several family members to use it
Both models support Apple’s announced shared-personalization approach, subject to the compatible iPhone or iPad requirement. Place the device where everyone can reach it, but review privacy settings before enrolling up to six people or displaying personal apps in a public room.
You are buying primarily for entertainment
Check the specific app and subscription requirements first. Apple lists Apple TV, music, podcasts, and compatible third-party audio and video apps, but says some apps need a paired iPhone nearby and content availability varies by region. A wall location may improve consistency, while a tabletop location is easier to reposition for viewing.
What to verify at checkout
- That the $299 figure is the current price in your country and edition.
- That the selected model and color are available for your market.
- That the wall mount is sold separately and is compatible with your intended power method.
- That any planned Matter or Apple Home accessory supports the controls and automations you need.
- That your iPhone or iPad meets the latest-software requirement for setup and multiuser features.
- That camera recording, recognition, and video-description features have the required iCloud+ plan and supported device.
- That the desired apps, Apple News availability, Siri language, and services are offered in your country.
- That you are comfortable buying before independent hands-on testing and long-term reliability reports are available.
Bottom line for the buying decision
For most buyers, the tabletop Apple HomeView is the practical starting point because it includes the complete physical device without a mounting purchase and can move between rooms. Select the wall-mounted version when a fixed, clean installation is more valuable than flexibility and you have accounted for the mount, wiring, and installation work. Do not pay extra for a supposed storage tier: Apple has not announced one. Decide any iCloud+ subscription separately, based on the camera and cloud features you actually plan to use.
