Apple and LG are reportedly developing a group of smart-home accessories, but the planned products are expected to carry LG branding—not Apple’s. Bloomberg reporting relayed by MacRumors and 9to5Mac describes a lineup that includes a wired video doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor and three types of cameras. The reports do not amount to an Apple announcement: LG’s filings reportedly name the devices but do not mention Apple.

Is Apple making a smart doorbell?
Not as an announced Apple-branded product. The reporting says Apple and LG collaborated on development, while the doorbell and the rest of the accessories are expected to be LG-branded. LG is reportedly responsible for manufacturing and product support. The reporting characterizes this supplier arrangement as a way for Apple to expand its ecosystem without taking on the full cost and complexity of producing and supporting every accessory.
That distinction matters: Apple’s reported role in development does not establish that Apple will sell, service or directly support the devices. MacRumors and 9to5Mac say Apple is not named in the LG filings they describe. Until either company confirms the arrangement, the partnership remains reported rather than official.

What connectivity and Apple Home compatibility are reported?
Many of the devices are reported to support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter, while the deadbolt reportedly adds ultra-wideband (UWB) for proximity-related automatic unlocking. The reports do not assign every radio to every product, and final specifications may change.
The products are described as intended for an Apple home ecosystem that is also expected to include a home hub. Reporting additionally mentions an upgraded HomePod mini and Apple TV, but it does not establish that either current product is required to use these accessories. Nor does it provide a complete compatibility list, explain exactly how each device will appear in Apple Home, or confirm which functions will work across platforms. Buyers should wait for product-specific compatibility and setup details before treating Matter or Thread support as proof of a particular feature set.

When will the LG smart-home devices be available?
The reports do not give a firm consumer launch date, price or country-by-country availability. They say the accessories are not expected to reach consumers for at least a few months. LG reportedly requested that photos and more precise details remain confidential until early 2027; that reported confidentiality date is not a launch date.
