Reports published October 6, 2026, say Apple and LG are working on a future range of LG-branded smart-home devices for Apple’s home ecosystem. The products have not been formally announced by Apple or LG, and the report says they are at least a few months from reaching consumers. Separately, an online summary claims App Store revenue grew 5% year over year in September; that figure has not been independently verified and is unrelated to a different 5% rate in Apple’s EU app-business terms.
What Apple and LG are reportedly developing
Bloomberg reporting relayed by 9to5Mac and MacRumors describes a planned set of LG-branded smart-home accessories developed with Apple. The reported lineup comprises:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- LG Video Doorbell Wired
- LG Floodlight Cam
- LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In
- LG Indoor Cam Plug-In
- LG Smart Deadbolt Lock
- LG Smart Thermostat
- LG Temperature Sensor
The reports say LG would manufacture the products and provide product support. Bloomberg’s phrase, quoted by 9to5Mac, calls the initiative “a formal reboot of HomeKit”; that is a characterization in reporting, not an Apple announcement. The reports also frame the supplier arrangement as a way for Apple to expand its ecosystem without taking on the full cost and complexity of making and supporting every accessory itself.
Are these confirmed Apple Home products?
No public Apple or LG announcement in the cited coverage confirms the lineup, launch, or final specifications. The reports say LG sought regulatory approvals from the US Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions and requested confidentiality for product details. Those filings reportedly do not identify Apple’s involvement; the claimed Apple connection comes from Bloomberg’s reporting.

How Apple Home and HomeKit fit in
Apple describes HomeKit as a framework that lets apps coordinate and control supported smart-home accessories from multiple vendors. Apple Home-compatible accessories can be organized into actions and automations, with Siri as one way to trigger them. Apple says HomeKit apps can run across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

- Remote Control: To enable HomeKit remote control, you need a HomePod, an Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, or an iPad. Set any of these Apple devices in your house as a HomeKit bridge and connect it to your home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that once your HomeKit bridge is set up, it has to be kept online. If it is powered off or disconnected from the Wi-Fi, it will fail to respond when you intend to control the device remotely.
- Voice Control: You can control your devices hands free, just give voice commands to turn on/off the connected devices. Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Apple Watch, Siri, Carplay, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant.
- Compact Size: Smart plug occupies only one socket, the device allows you to stack two mini smart plugs in the same outlet, which is convenient and practical.
- Schedule: You can schedule connected devices to turn on and off automatically by smart plugs. Save energy when lights are not needed or left on by accident. Sunrise and sunset setting are supported.
- Quality: The meross Smart outlet is made of PC flame retardant material, and has been approved for safety and quality assurance. Certified by ETL and FCC, it supports home appliance up to 15A.
Apple’s developer material describes Matter as a connectivity standard intended to help accessories work across platforms, and Thread as a low-power, IP-based mesh networking technology. Matter support or Thread connectivity alone would not establish the exact features, setup requirements, or compatibility of an unreleased LG model.

Apple says companies developing or manufacturing HomeKit accessories for sale or distribution need MFi enrollment. Matter accessories also need certification through the Connectivity Standards Alliance. These general requirements do not confirm certification of the reported LG devices.

What does “App Store +5%” refer to?
A TradingView AI-generated summary attributes a 5% year-over-year September App Store revenue increase to Sensor Tower data cited by UBS, and says growth for the quarter was roughly 2%. TradingView warns that its AI-generated summaries may contain inaccuracies. The linked GuruFocus item was unavailable, and the underlying Sensor Tower or UBS material was not available to verify the figures. The year and precise quarter are also not specified in the opened summary. Treat the growth claim as unverified, not as an established Apple result.
Apple’s separate 5% EU commission
Apple announced revised EU business terms on August 18, 2026, with changes taking effect October 1, 2026. Under those terms, Apple says it will charge a 5% Core Technology Commission on digital transactions in apps distributed through alternative app marketplaces or the web in the EU. This is a commission rate on a specified class of transactions—not App Store revenue growth.

What LG’s existing app does—and does not show
The US App Store description for LG ThinQ says it can control LG connected appliances, create smart routines, monitor energy use, and request product support. LG notes that features vary by product model and country or region. This describes LG’s existing connected-appliance app; it does not confirm the reported Apple-LG accessories or their compatibility.
What to look for before considering the reported lineup
Until product pages and setup instructions are public, buyers cannot reliably compare these rumored devices with current accessories. When evaluating any Apple Home-compatible product, check the details that affect day-to-day use:
Quick Recap
- Whether the specific model supports Apple Home, Matter, or both, and whether required certification is documented.
- Whether it needs a home hub, a particular network, or other hardware for automations and remote access.
- For cameras, the installation method and the maker’s privacy and video-storage terms.
- For wired devices, the installation requirements and whether professional installation is needed.
- Where and when the specific model is actually available; do not assume the reported LG lineup is already on sale.
