The company says more than 33,000 findings were rated critical or high, but that severity figure comes from responses by only a subset of partners and is likely an undercount. These are company-reported totals, not an independently audited census.
How many vulnerabilities did Anthropic and Project Glasswing report?
In an October 6, 2026 announcement, Anthropic reported two distinct counts with different time periods and sources:

| Reported findings | Period | What the count covers |
|---|---|---|
| At least 129,000 verified vulnerabilities | April–July 2026 | Findings uncovered by Project Glasswing partners, according to Anthropic. |
| 5,500 verified vulnerabilities | April–October 2026 | Additional findings from Anthropic’s own open-source scanning efforts. |
The counts should not be described as the result of one scan over a shared period: the first is a partner-reported Glasswing total for April through July, and the second is Anthropic’s own open-source scanning total for April through October. Anthropic says the latter is additional to the partner count.

Anthropic says its impact figures draw on partial data from 33 partner reports and its open-source partnerships. Fewer than half of partners disclosed patch counts, often because fixes were still underway, so the reported patch rate is significantly undercounted.

What does the 33,000-plus critical or high figure mean?
Anthropic says more than 33,000 of the vulnerabilities had been rated critical or high at the time of its announcement. That number is based on severity survey data from only a subset of Glasswing partners, not a complete severity classification of the full reported total. Anthropic says the count is likely an undercount and estimates the true impact could be at least five times higher; that multiplier is the company’s expectation, not a verified tally.
Anthropic described the broader uncertainty this way: “These results represent a lower bound on the program’s impact on third-party code, as they’re based on partial data from 33 partner reports and Anthropic’s open-source partnerships.”

What is Anthropic’s expanded Cyber Verification Program?
Anthropic says the expanded Cyber Verification Program (CVP) brings together its earlier CVP and Project Glasswing. It provides verified users with access to capable models, including Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Claude Mythos 5.1, under different checks and safeguards. Anthropic frames the access model around the dual-use nature of cybersecurity: “the same capabilities that enable a security team to find and fix a vulnerability can also help a malicious actor exploit it.”

The three tiers are defined by the kind of work and systems involved, as well as the applicant and verification requirements; they are not simply a ladder of unrestricted model access.
Rank #3
| Tier | Permitted work and scope | Who Anthropic identifies as potential applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Defense Access | Defensive security work, including security operations and incident response, malware reverse engineering, and analyzing or validating vulnerabilities. | Security teams at companies, nonprofits, universities, or government agencies defending systems they own or maintain; critical-infrastructure operators; smaller security firms; open-source maintainers; and experienced individual researchers. |
| Red Team Access | Includes authorized penetration testing and red teaming. Testing must be authorized. | Organizations such as in-house or government red teams and security testing firms. Individual researchers are not eligible for this tier. |
| Specialized Access | Testing systems whose failure could affect lives or disrupt markets, such as flight systems, power grids, telecom networks, interbank transfer infrastructure, and government administrative networks. | A limited set of verified organizations. Anthropic says it reviews each organization in collaboration with the US government. |
Who can access the cybersecurity capabilities, and where?
Applicants should match the requested tier to their work and authorization: Defense Access is aimed at defensive teams and researchers; Red Team Access is currently organization-only and requires authorized testing; Specialized Access is limited to organizations working on especially sensitive systems. Anthropic’s announcement describes verification and safeguards but does not provide a single universal approval checklist for all tiers.
Anthropic says the program is available through Claude Platform, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. Amazon Bedrock access is limited to customers eligible for Enterprise Frontier Safeguards. These availability and eligibility details can change.
Anthropic also says organizations enrolled in CVP will have data retained for cyber-misuse monitoring. It says qualifying users may be able to store data in cloud infrastructure they control once Enterprise Frontier Safeguards becomes available. Separately, eligible customers with zero-data-retention access to Claude Fable 5.1 or Claude Mythos 5.1 can currently use CVP with zero data retention, according to the announcement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor work that does not require CVP, Anthropic says generally available models remain usable for code review, patching known issues, vulnerability discovery in source code users own, and security-alert triage. The company characterizes those models’ cyber safeguards as conservative and says they block most cyber work.

What did Anthropic’s safeguards evaluation show?
Anthropic says it evaluated Claude Opus 5.5 on 10 CyScenarioBench challenges, making five attempts at each access tier. These are the company’s own benchmark results, not an independent validation:
- Without CVP: Every task was blocked on the first prompt.
- Defense Access: 46 of 50 trials were blocked at some point; four succeeded.
- Red Team Access: No trials were blocked, and the model completed 34 of 50 tasks. Anthropic says this was effectively equivalent to the 67.6% success rate with no safeguards.
The results illustrate the trade-off built into the tiers: safeguards can constrain potentially harmful use, while authorized red-team work requires greater capability. The figures should be read as results from Anthropic’s specific evaluation, not as a general measure of real-world security or misuse risk.
