The figures were reported by Reuters on October 14, 2026, based on an investor who attended the meeting; they are not from an audited public earnings release, and Anthropic had not immediately commented.
What Anthropic reportedly disclosed
The disclosure came during a pre-IPO meeting with Anthropic leadership in San Francisco. Reuters said an investor who attended told the publication that third-quarter revenue rose 45% from the previous quarter to $16.8 billion. The report did not identify a published financial statement supporting the number.

Anthropic is the developer of the Claude family of generative-AI models. Its reported quarterly figures show a sharp increase over the first half of 2026:
| Period | Revenue | How the figure was reported |
|---|---|---|
| Q3 2026 | $16.8 billion | Investor disclosure reported by Reuters |
| Q2 2026 | $11.6 billion | Reuters report |
| Q2 2026 | More than $11.5 billion | Earlier Bloomberg-sourced coverage reported by Fortune; the difference is rounding and presentation |
| Q1 2026 | $4.7 billion | Reuters report |
| Full-year 2025 | Nearly $4.6 billion | Reuters retrospective |
Using Reuters’ $11.6 billion Q2 figure, the $16.8 billion Q3 total represents a $5.2 billion sequential increase, or approximately 44.8%, which is consistent with the reported 45% growth rate. The $11.5 billion figure cited elsewhere is a rounded version of the same Q2 period, not a separate quarter.

What “profitable on an adjusted basis” does—and does not—mean
The investor account says Anthropic was profitable in Q3 on an adjusted basis. It does not state the amount of adjusted profit, an adjusted margin, GAAP net income, operating cash flow or free cash flow.
Adjusted results can exclude or alter the treatment of items that appear in standard financial statements. Until Anthropic provides a defined reconciliation, the disclosure cannot be treated as proof that the company was profitable under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Established by the report: Anthropic characterized Q3 as profitable using an adjusted measure.
- Not disclosed: the dollar profit, margin, accounting adjustments, GAAP net income, cash flow and audited financial statements.
- Source limitation: the claim came through an investor who attended a private briefing rather than a regulatory filing or public earnings release.
How large is the reported growth?
Q3 revenue was roughly 3.6 times Reuters’ Q1 figure of $4.7 billion. That acceleration also puts one reported quarter well above the nearly $4.6 billion Anthropic generated during all of 2025, although a single quarter should not be treated as a full-year forecast. The available figures show momentum, but they do not explain how much came from recurring subscriptions, usage-based model fees, enterprise contracts or other sources.

Those details are important because frontier-AI revenue can grow alongside substantial spending on specialized computing, data centers and cloud capacity.
IPO ambitions and the cost challenge
Reuters reported that Anthropic was targeting a valuation above $2 trillion. A valuation target is not the same as a completed offering, a filed prospectus or an approved listing; no public filing was cited in the report.
The same coverage said Anthropic had committed at least $518 billion over a decade for cloud services, computing and infrastructure. That long-term commitment frames the central financial question for prospective investors: whether revenue growth and future margins can outpace the cost of training and operating increasingly large AI systems.
Alphabet (Google) and Amazon were described as investors, computing suppliers and distribution partners. Those relationships can provide access to infrastructure and customers, but the reports do not quantify how much revenue or expense is associated with either partner.

How to read the $16.8 billion figure
The number is best understood as a management or investor presentation claim reported secondhand, not as audited financial guidance. Readers evaluating the figure should look for several items in any later prospectus, filing or formal financial release:
Best Value
- A definition of revenue and the period covered, including whether the figure is recognized revenue or an annualized run rate.
- A reconciliation from adjusted results to GAAP net income, with each excluded cost identified.
- Auditor-reviewed statements showing revenue, operating expenses, cash flow, capital spending and outstanding infrastructure obligations.
- Details of the $518 billion commitment, including its contractual terms, timing, cancellation rights and the portion expected to be paid to each supplier.
- Updated valuation terms and share information rather than a preliminary target above $2 trillion.
What remains unconfirmed
Anthropic had not immediately responded to Reuters’ request for comment when the report was published. Consequently, the Q3 revenue total, the 45% sequential-growth calculation and the adjusted-profit statement remain attributed to the investor briefing described by Reuters. The reports establish neither GAAP profitability nor an audited measure of Anthropic’s financial performance.
