It is a provider-focused effort that brings frontier Claude models, on-site engineers and threat research to security, consulting and manufacturing companies that already help protect operational technology (OT) and critical infrastructure. It launched with 11 founding partners, and Anthropic says work is underway with a small cohort and that it intends to expand. The program is not a product that individual utilities or factories can buy directly, and the public announcement does not publish pricing, application deadlines or selection criteria.
What CIDP is, and where it sits
CIDP is part of the broader Anthropic Cyber Mission, which Anthropic describes as work to support defenders with tools, research and resources, starting with critical infrastructure and open-source software. CIDP covers the first of those areas. It is aimed at operational technology behind power grids, water systems, factories and transportation networks, as well as government systems. The open-source work described in the same announcement is a separate track and should not be read as part of CIDP.

Anthropic’s reasoning is that these environments run on controllers, control software and industrial networks built to last for decades. Many of them cannot be taken offline for patching, so known vulnerabilities can stay open for long periods. CIDP is meant to address that gap by helping trusted providers find exposures and recommend fixes that can be applied to systems that are still running. Anthropic also states that AI cannot solve every problem in defending critical infrastructure, and it stresses that changes to equipment and control systems carry specific operational risks.

The program is built around providers rather than operators. According to Anthropic, operators already rely on a small group of trusted providers to identify exposures and recommend fixes, so CIDP gives those providers the three inputs named in the announcement:
#1 Best Overall

- High-Performance Security: Offers up to 1 Gbps IPS throughput and 600 Mbps threat protection throughput, using Fortinet’s purpose-built security processor technology to deliver industry-leading performance and protection for SSL encrypted traffic.
- Advanced Threat Protection: Integrated with Fortinet’s AI-powered FortiGuard Labs, the FortiGate 40F offers comprehensive cybersecurity, identifying and mitigating both known and unknown threats to maintain robust security across your network.
- Simplified Management and Deployment: Features a user-friendly management console that provides comprehensive network automation and visibility, coupled with Zero Touch Integration with Fortinet’s Security Fabric for easy deployment.
- Frontier Claude models that partners use to analyze vulnerabilities and help customers work on fixes.
- On-site engineers to support deployment work inside partner and customer environments.
- Threat research from Anthropic on adversaries that target essential services.
Anthropic says several founding partners are already using Claude to fix vulnerabilities and to help their customers do the same. The initial approach is a small cohort intended to show what is practical and effective before the program grows.
The 11 founding partners
The announcement names the following founding partners. The grouping below is our reading of each company’s public role, because the announcement does not sort them into categories:
| Category (our reading) | Founding partners |
|---|---|
| Consulting and professional services | Accenture, Booz Allen, Deloitte, PwC |
| Cybersecurity providers | CrowdStrike, Dragos, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks |
| Equipment manufacturers | Hitachi, Rockwell Automation |
The roster matters for who can benefit. Anthropic describes the founding group as spanning consulting and advanced technology firms, cybersecurity providers and manufacturers that build or patch equipment, so a utility or plant operator would most likely reach CIDP through one of these companies rather than through Anthropic.
What CrowdStrike says it brings
CrowdStrike’s own account of its participation says it gives access to Anthropic’s technical guidance, frontier cybersecurity research and a community for sharing practices. On the product side, CrowdStrike describes its Falcon platform as drawing on security data across IT and OT, threat intelligence and cyber expertise. It also describes Falcon for XIoT as providing visibility and protection across IT, OT and connected assets, including identifying unmanaged or legacy assets and assessing exposure without disruptive scanning.
Rank #2
- HARDWARE PLUS SECURITY SERVICES: FortiGate-60F Firewall Appliance bundled with 1 year of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection.
- UNIFIED THREAT PROTECTION (UTP): Secures against advanced online threats with comprehensive web filtering and anti-botnet technologies.
- OPTIMIZED FOR MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES: Tailored for businesses needing robust security without the infrastructure of larger enterprises.
- RELIABLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT: FortiCare Premium ensures high-quality support and service continuity.
- EFFECTIVE PROTECTION: Employs advanced filtering technologies to safeguard against sophisticated threats.
These are CrowdStrike’s descriptions of its own capabilities. Neither the announcement nor CrowdStrike’s post reports independent testing of how well these capabilities perform in CIDP deployments.

What is not yet public
Several practical questions remain unanswered in the announcement and the partner material available as of October 8, 2026:
- Application deadlines are not specified.
- Selection criteria for partners or cohort members are not published.
- Pricing and service terms are not stated.
- Geographic scope is not specified, so the announcement does not say which countries or regulators are covered.
- Technical deployment protocol, including how validation of changes on live systems will be handled, is not described.
- Measured outcomes have not been reported. No figure for reduced infrastructure risk or for prevented incidents has been published.
Because of these gaps, the program should be treated as early-stage. Its founding partners and cohort model are established. Its effectiveness is not.
Rank #3
- 【Up to 1100 Mbps VPN Speed 】 Hardware-accelerated WireGuard and OpenVPN-DCO deliver up to 1100 Mbps VPN throughput, over 3× faster than Brume 2 for smooth remote access and file transfers.
- 【Three 2.5G Ports & Multi-WAN】Tri-port 2.5GbE design with flexible WAN LAN configuration supports multi-gigabit wired setups, dual-ISP Multi-WAN and failover to keep home and SOHO networks online.
- 【Stealth VPN Obfuscation】VPN obfuscation disguises VPN traffic as regular HTTPS, helping you evade blocking, bypass restrictive networks and maintain stable, private connections.
- 【DPI protection】Deep Packet Inspection with visual dashboards blocks adult/gambling/malicious sites, while SQM and QoS prioritize gaming, calls, and video when bandwidth is tight
- 【OpenWrt & USB 3.0 Expansion】OpenWrt with 1GB DDR4 and 8GB eMMC lets you install plugins and build VPN, ad-blocking or NAS, while USB 3.0 Type‑C connects high-speed storage or 4G/5G dongles
Can your company take part?
The announcement invites eligible companies to register interest as the program expands. Eligible companies are those building critical-infrastructure security products or services, which Anthropic lists as including security vendors, system integrators and equipment manufacturers. Registering interest is not an admission, a commitment or a commercial offer. Operators such as utilities, water authorities and plant owners are not described as able to join directly.
If you are a provider in one of those categories, the practical steps are to read the announcement, note the eligibility wording, and register interest through the channel Anthropic indicates on its announcement page. If you are an operator, the announcement points toward working through a provider that already has a relationship with CIDP.
Partner statements from the announcement
The announcement includes statements from several partner executives. These are partner views, not independent evaluations:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

- Tony Baker, VP, Digital Trust & Chief Product Security Officer, Rockwell Automation: “As AI continues to advance, it presents an important opportunity to strengthen cybersecurity across critical infrastructure, provided it is applied responsibly, validated rigorously, and deployed with safety and reliability at the forefront.”
- Sam Rubin, Senior Vice President, Unit 42, Palo Alto Networks: “By combining Unit 42 threat intelligence and operational expertise with Anthropic’s frontier models, we’re helping operators defend against adversaries looking to attack and disrupt essential services.”
- Moreno Carullo, Co-Founder and CTO, Nozomi Networks: “Frontier AI is evolving faster than any single organization can track alone.”
- Dan Gunter, CEO and Founder, Insane Cyber: “Claude closes that gap, so our analysts and our customers’ operators spend their time on the judgment calls that keep critical systems running safely.”
The figures that are and are not established
The only verifiable count in the announcement is the partner roster of 11 founding partners. No performance statistic for CIDP has been published.
Anthropic does report one larger figure, but it belongs to a different effort. Since launching a separate state, local, tribal and territorial government cyber defense program in June, Anthropic says it has offered frontier Claude models and technical support to “more than half of all US states.” That is Anthropic’s own figure about that program, and it does not measure CIDP.
