Anthropic announced two new beta features on October 8, 2026: Claude Dashboards, which turns questions about connected company data into refreshable dashboards, and Claude Motion, which makes editable, code-based animations. At the same time, Claude Docs, Slides, and Design left beta and became available on every Claude plan, including Free. Access to the two new features is narrower: Dashboards is for paid plans, while Motion is for Team and Enterprise.
What Anthropic announced
The announcement covers three different kinds of work: exploring company data, creating animated explainers, and producing documents, presentations, and designs. They do not share the same plan eligibility or workflow.

| Feature | Best suited to | Availability at announcement | What users can inspect or edit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Dashboards | Exploratory questions about connected company data | Beta on paid Claude plans | The query behind a number and when each chart’s data was last refreshed |
| Claude Motion | Animated explainers built from text, charts, shapes, and images | Beta on Team and Enterprise | Code-based animation elements, including text, charts, shapes, images, and timing |
| Claude Docs, Slides, and Design | Documents, decks, and designs | Out of beta on all plans, including Free | Editing and export options vary by artifact type |
These are capability descriptions from Anthropic, not independent quality rankings. The company said users had created more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs; its announcement did not specify the period covered by that figure.
How Claude Dashboards works
Dashboards connects to company data sources including Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake, as well as connectors such as Salesforce. A user can ask a question in plain language—for example, “Build a dashboard of this quarter’s revenue by region”—and Claude uses the connected data to create a dashboard intended to stay current as that data changes.

Check the figures behind a chart
For each chart, Anthropic says users can see when its data was last refreshed and inspect the query behind a displayed number. That gives users a way to examine how a figure was derived and whether its data is recent. It does not make a generated dashboard a substitute for validating the underlying data or query.
Use it alongside analytics tools
Anthropic frames Dashboards as an exploratory layer that complements business intelligence and analytics tools. Dashboards can be sent to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma for deeper analysis. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau were listed as coming soon in the October 8 announcement; that status may change.

How Claude Motion differs from video generation
Motion turns a prompt into an animation that plays like a short video. Anthropic says it writes code to animate elements such as text, charts, shapes, and images. Users can make changes in an editor or ask Claude to revise the animation, then download an MP4.

Its emphasis is on editable animated elements and timing, rather than creating filmed-looking scenes. The company named Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, InVideo, Luma AI, and Runway as destinations for continued editing; Canva and Captions were listed as coming soon in the announcement.

Who can use each feature
As of the October 8, 2026 announcement, Dashboards was in beta on paid Claude plans, Motion was in beta on Team and Enterprise, and Docs, Slides, and Design were available on every plan, including Free. Availability and rollout settings can change after an announcement.
Enterprise controls
For Enterprise organizations, Dashboards and Motion were off by default. Administrators could enable them at Organization settings > Artifacts. Docs, Slides, and Design were scheduled to turn on by default on October 15, 2026, with administrators able to enable them earlier.
Rank #4
Anthropic says Artifacts support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), and administrators can choose which artifact templates their organization uses. Teams and Claude can collaborate on the same doc, deck, design, or dashboard. Whether users can share outside their organization, including through public links, depends on administrator settings.

Anthropic says PowerPoint and PDF downloads are intended to preserve editor formatting, and decks can be sent to Google Slides as editable files. Mobile editing in the Claude app is described for docs, decks, and designs. These export and mobile details do not apply uniformly to every artifact type.

What Claude Design users need to know about the standalone site
Claude Design became available inside Claude conversations on September 16, 2026, where it can use conversation context, files, and connectors. Anthropic said the standalone claude.ai/design site would remain available until December 14, 2026, while the standalone experience is folded into Claude.
Migrate team design systems
Teams can migrate design systems from the Artifacts page using Migrate team design systems. Anthropic says the originals remain unchanged in the standalone version until that site closes.
Save conversations and comments
Existing projects need no immediate action and were expected to continue working until closure. However, chats and comments will not be available after the standalone site closes, and public links to standalone projects will stop working. Save anything from those conversations that the team needs to keep. Anthropic’s migration guide has further details.
