Antares Ventures’ Alleged $50 Million Deep-Tech Raise Remains Unconfirmed

There is no attributable announcement currently confirming that Antares Ventures raised more than $50 million for deep-tech investments. The amount, fund or investment vehicle, closing date and status remain unverified. What is documented is a separate February 2025 announcement: Antares was selected as a co-investment partner by SEEDS Capital under Singapore’s Startup SG Equity program. The sums described in that announcement belong to the public co-investment program, not to an Antares fundraise.

What can—and cannot—be confirmed

The headline claim would normally require four basic details: the amount raised, the name of the fund or vehicle, the date of first or final close, and an attributable statement from the manager, investors or a reliable financial publication. Those details have not been established for an Antares Ventures raise exceeding $50 million.

Accordingly, the claim should not be presented as a completed financing. It may refer to an unannounced vehicle, an aggregate of investments, a target rather than a close, or a figure circulated without a primary source. None of those possibilities is confirmed.

What Antares Ventures says it does

Antares Ventures describes itself as a deep-tech investor that invests globally and operates locally to help technology companies commercialize and scale across Asia. Its stated approach can include leading or co-leading rounds, taking board seats, working closely with founders and introducing industrial or corporate partners.

The firm’s current investment range is Seed through Series B. Its homepage says it looks for early-growth ventures with industrial demand and a credible path to adoption, rather than treating laboratory performance alone as sufficient evidence of a venture-scale opportunity.

Investment areas

Antares groups its thesis into four broad areas:

  • Energy systems: next-generation energy production, grid storage and balancing, and power electronics.
  • Compute and digital infrastructure: advanced materials and compute architectures, cooling and advanced packaging.
  • Industrial systems: manufacturing, electrification, sensing, automation and mobility.
  • Infrastructure and natural systems: water and waste treatment, resource recovery and related infrastructure.

The firm’s portfolio page gives examples spanning energy storage, grid optimization, water treatment, industrial sensing, manufacturing, mobility, materials, food technology and infrastructure. These are Antares’ descriptions of its portfolio and should not be read as independent performance assessments.

The verified 2025 SEEDS Capital announcement

On February 18, 2025, Antares announced that it had been selected as one of SEEDS Capital’s new co-investment partners. SEEDS Capital is the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore. The announcement described the scope of the Startup SG Equity program, not money raised by Antares.

According to Antares’ announcement, SEEDS planned to set aside S$150 million (US$110 million) over three years and sought to mobilize an additional S$300 million (US$220 million) from private-sector partners. The stated target sectors included advanced manufacturing, pharmbio and medtech, agrifood technology, sustainability, spacetech and quantum technology.

The same announcement attributed two further figures to Startup SG Equity: the scheme had facilitated close to S$3 billion (US$2.2 billion) across more than 330 startups, and its co-investment cap had risen from S$8 million to S$12 million per deep-tech startup. Those figures are reported here as claims made in Antares’ announcement; they are not evidence that Antares itself raised either the public allocation or the private-sector target.

Why the distinction matters to founders and investors

A fund manager’s own close and a government-backed co-investment mandate represent different kinds of capital. A fund close generally identifies committed limited-partner capital, a vehicle, a term and a date. A co-investment partnership instead gives an appointed investor a role in sourcing or backing eligible companies alongside a public program and other private participants. Program capacity can be committed, targeted or deployed at different times.

Confusing the two can lead founders to assume that Antares has a newly available pool of more than $50 million, or that every investment made with SEEDS participation comes from Antares’ balance sheet. The public announcement does not support either conclusion.

Antares’ corporate and regional footprint

Antares identifies its legal entity as Antares Ventures Pte. Ltd. and says it is a venture-capital fund manager licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. It lists offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, matching its stated objective of pairing global investment with local operating support in Southeast Asia.

The firm names Michael Gryseels as founder and managing partner, with Rui (Louis) Murayama and Milena Nikolova as partners. Its institutional positioning is summarized in its statement: “When breakthrough innovators are paired with the right industrial partners, scale accelerates, and impact compounds.”

What would verify the claimed raise

A definitive update would need a dated primary release, regulatory filing or credible report that identifies the vehicle and confirms the amount and close status. Readers should look for:

  • the legal name of the fund or special-purpose vehicle;
  • whether the figure is a target, first close, final close or assets under management;
  • the currency and whether the amount is committed or deployed;
  • named institutional or strategic investors, where disclosure is permitted; and
  • the exact announcement date and an attributable quote.

Until those details appear, the accurate conclusion is limited: Antares Ventures is a Singapore-regulated deep-tech investor with a documented SEEDS Capital partnership, but a raise of more than $50 million has not been confirmed.
