Police allege Sujal arranged weapons and a motorcycle for two accused shooters. Investigators were still trying to determine who directed him and where the items came from; the allegations have not been established by a court.
Who is Sujal, and what do police allege?
Hindustan Times reported that Sujal, a Sonipat resident, was being actively sought by police over the alleged provision of weapons and a motorcycle to the two accused shooters. His name surfaced after police arrested another Sonipat resident, Rohit alias Ladla. Investigators were examining the relationship between the two men and the part each may have played.
Shamli Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh told Hindustan Times: “Sujal’s arrest is being actively pursued. His questioning is expected to shed light on the conspiracy, procurement of weapons and vehicle, and the links between the accused.” This describes the police investigation, not a finding of guilt.
What is known about the other people in the case?
- Mohit, 22, and Sumit, 24: Police identified them as the two accused shooters. Hindustan Times reported that each carried a ₹50,000 reward. Police said the men died during treatment after being injured in an exchange of fire on August 31, 2026.
- Rohit alias Ladla: The report says police arrested him shortly before it was published. Its wording places the arrest two days earlier, but that date is inferred from the report rather than separately confirmed. Investigators were looking into his connection to Sujal and their respective roles.
- Sujal: Police were pursuing him as of the October 3 report. The report does not say he had been arrested.
What happened to Ankit Baliyan?
According to Hindustan Times, Baliyan, 32, was shot on August 26, 2026, near Verma Market on Nala Patri in Shamli’s Kotwali area while returning from a gym. Police reviewed local CCTV and formed teams to identify the shooters and their associates.

Earlier reporting described a police theory that connected the alleged motive to a song associated with Baliyan and a wider gang network. That remains an allegation attributed to police, not an established motive. The Indian Express reported that the song had 54 million YouTube views; that figure is context about the song, not evidence about the crime or public opinion.
What do police say about the alleged planning?
In a Times of India report, Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajeev Krishna described what the investigation had indicated at that time: “The investigation has revealed that before the murder, information about Ankit Baliyan’s activities was collected. It has also emerged that weapons were provided to the shooters from outside and four assailants executed the crime in a planned manner.” This is the DGP’s account of the investigation, rather than a court’s determination.

As of the Hindustan Times report on October 3, police were still trying to establish who instructed Sujal, where the alleged weapons and motorcycle were procured, and how far Sujal’s and Rohit’s alleged involvement extended. The report does not resolve whether their roles involved logistics, planning, or execution. The sources cited here do not establish a court judgment determining the guilt of Sujal or the other alleged associates.
