The Anker Soundcore Nebula P1’s strongest reason to buy it is its pair of detachable 10W stereo speakers: place them apart and you get a more convincing left-right soundstage than a single projector speaker can provide. The picture is less compelling. Its 650 ANSI-lumen 1080p image is best suited to casual viewing in controlled or dark lighting, not bright rooms or reference home theater. And despite its portable design, the projector has no built-in battery.
What the Nebula P1 is—and what makes it different
The Nebula P1 is a 1080p DLP projector with Google TV and two detachable 10W speakers. Soundcore lists a 4-LED light source, 650 ANSI lumens and a 400:1 standard-mode contrast ratio. Its defining feature is not a novel display technology, but the option to move the speakers away from the projector and space them apart for stereo sound.

That distinction matters: the speakers can make viewing more immersive, but they cannot make the projected image brighter or more detailed. The P1 makes the most sense when sound placement and easy setup matter more than top-tier picture performance.

Expect a usable 1080p image in a dim or dark room, with compromises that become harder to ignore as ambient light rises or picture quality becomes the priority. Soundcore’s specification is 650 ANSI lumens; that figure is a manufacturer rating, not a guarantee of a bright image in every room or at every screen size.

Independent reviewers’ assessments
- RTINGS judges the P1 a poor home-theater choice, citing weak brightness and contrast, washed-out images, muted color, motion judder and possible sensitivity to the DLP rainbow effect. It also describes the fan as quiet. Those are that review’s findings, not a universal experience for every viewer or setup. RTINGS’ Nebula P1 review
- ProjectorCentral describes it as capable and flexible, but says it works best with controlled lighting and favors convenience over absolute image fidelity. Its assessment notes brightness and highlight-handling limits, along with visible dithering. ProjectorCentral’s assessment
- WIRED reports using the P1 indoors and outdoors for more than a month, praising portability but calling the 1080p image “just-OK”; it also notes missing advanced features such as media casting and higher contrast. WIRED’s review
- TechRadar calls the visuals decent and the satellite speakers useful, while warning that 650 lumens and 1080p limit the impact of very large images. Its scorecard calls the picture respectable for casual viewing up to 100 inches after adjustments. TechRadar’s review
Taken together, these reviews support a practical expectation rather than a promise of cinematic performance: keep the room under control, be realistic about screen size, and judge the P1 as a convenience-first projector.
Does the sound live up to the “all about that bass” pitch?
The speakers are the P1’s clearest differentiator. Each is rated at 10W by Soundcore, and the US product listing describes 20W combined output and up to 20 hours of wireless speaker playback. That playback figure applies to the speakers, not to the projector, which has no internal battery.
ProjectorCentral reports a 480cc acoustic chamber in each speaker, bass response down to approximately 65Hz, peak output up to 85dBA, and latency below 60ms. These are figures reported by that review; they should not be read as independently verified measurements here. What Hi-Fi? calls the audio a distinctive strength, while TechRadar highlights the benefit of positioning the satellite speakers apart. What Hi-Fi?’s review

Sound modes and bass adjustment
Soundcore lists Movies, Music, Outdoors and Custom modes. In the manufacturer’s description, Outdoors reduces bass slightly and raises maximum volume to help the speakers cut through open-air or noisy surroundings. Custom mode lets you adjust bass and treble. So the P1 offers bass tuning, but its outdoor preset deliberately gives up some low end for audibility.

Does the projector have a battery?
No. The projector itself has no built-in battery, so portable use still requires an external power source. Soundcore’s US listing recommends the SOLIX C300 power station and estimates 3.5–3.7 hours with all features in use. What Hi-Fi? says Anker’s 737 Power Bank provides one hour in the configuration it cites, and recommends a minimum 100W output for unofficial USB-C supplies. Those examples use different sources and configurations; actual runtime depends on power source and system load, so do not assume an unspecified power bank will run a full film.
Can you use the Nebula P1 outside?
Yes, if you can provide power and protect the equipment from weather. The speakers’ wireless playback can help with placement, but it does not make the projector cordless. TechRadar describes the projector as IP33-rated and the speakers as IP54-rated; treat those as reported protection ratings, not permission to expose the system or its power supply to water. Check the official documentation for your region before relying on a rating for a particular outdoor setup.
Soundcore’s outdoor sound mode raises maximum volume while trimming bass. That trade-off may help in open or noisy surroundings, but it cannot compensate for a bright environment washing out the image.
Setup, placement and screen size
The projector has a 130-degree maximum gimbal angle, with autofocus, keystone correction, screen fit and obstacle avoidance among the convenience features listed by Soundcore. These are intended to simplify setup, not to keep the image calibrated if the projector is moved or shaken: Soundcore’s FAQ says the image does not automatically stabilize in that situation.

Soundcore’s FAQ gives these sample throw distances:
| Diagonal image | Distance listed by Soundcore |
|---|---|
| 60 inches | 1.59 m |
| 80 inches | 2.13 m |
| 100 inches | 2.66 m |
| 120 inches | 3.19 m |
Those distances are placement guidance, not a promise that the P1 will look equally bright or detailed at each size. For brightness and image-quality expectations, use the 100- and 120-inch options with the lighting caveats in mind.
Google TV, apps and connections
Soundcore specifies Google TV and official Netflix support. What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar list HDMI eARC, USB-A, a 3.5mm audio output and USB-C power; What Hi-Fi? identifies HDMI eARC support for signals up to 4K at 60Hz. Streaming apps vary by region: What Hi-Fi? reports BBC iPlayer was unavailable in its market and describes phone casting as a workaround. Confirm that the services you use are available on the P1 in your country before buying.

Size, noise and other specifications
Soundcore’s FAQ lists dimensions of 124 × 130 × 284 mm and a weight of 2.38 kg. It also lists a 1.2:1 throw ratio and a 25,000-hour light-source life. Anker reports fan noise of 27 dB at one meter, measured by Anker Labs; this is a manufacturer-reported figure, not an independent noise test.

The official specification describes DLP with a 0.23-inch DMD and a 4-LED light source. TechRadar’s specification table instead says “3 Laser DLP,” a discrepancy with the manufacturer’s stated light-source type. For the P1’s technology, the official Soundcore specification is the appropriate reference. Soundcore’s P1 specifications
Who should buy it?
It may suit you if
- You value speakers that can be positioned apart more than a single built-in projector speaker.
- You mainly watch in a dim or dark room and want a flexible setup with Google TV and official Netflix support.
- You are willing to arrange external power for portable or outdoor viewing.
Look elsewhere if
- You need a projector for a bright room, consistently vivid large images or reference home theater.
- You need the projector to run from its own battery.
- You require a specific regional streaming app and have not confirmed its availability on the P1.
For a fair comparison with another projector, match the room lighting and image size, then compare ANSI brightness, contrast and color, motion handling, separated-speaker capability, power and runtime, portability and weather protection, regional apps and ports, and the price and bundle available where you live. “Better” depends on which of those matters most to you.
Price and availability
Soundcore’s US product page displayed $799 when checked on October 4, 2026; prices, discounts and bundles can change. TechRadar reports launch prices of $799 in the US, £699.99 in the UK and AU$1,299.99 in Australia, and says later discounts occurred. Treat these as market- and time-specific figures rather than a current global price. Soundcore’s US product listing
