Its differences are the built-in charging display, limited Apple-device recognition, Care Mode and a plug that folds and rotates. Those features do not guarantee faster charging: a device draws only the power it supports, and its rate can fall as the battery fills.
What is different about the Anker Nano A121D?
A “standard 45W USB-C charger” is a category, not a single defined product. Chargers in that category can differ in supported power profiles, number of ports, size, plug design and device compatibility. The meaningful baseline is that the A121D offers up to 45W from a single USB-C port; its distinctive extras are in how it presents and manages charging.

| Feature | Anker Nano A121D | Standard 45W charger |

| Maximum output | Up to 45W from one USB-C port, according to Anker’s product page. | Depends on the specific model; the 45W label alone does not establish its charging profiles or port count. |
| Display | Built-in screen showing real-time charging power, temperature, charging mode and animations, according to Anker. | Not established for the category; check the named model’s specifications. |
| Device recognition | Displays device name and battery information for specified recent iPhones and iPads; support is limited (details below). | Not established for the category. |
| Care Mode | Includes a lower-temperature charging mode. Anker reports a lab comparison, described below. | Not established for the category. |
| Plug and dimensions | Foldable prongs rotate to 90° and 180°; listed dimensions are 3.4 × 3.5 × 4 cm and weight is 75 g. | Varies by model. |
| Cable included | No; Anker says the charging cable is not included. | Varies by model. |
Does it charge devices faster than another 45W charger?
Not necessarily. Forty-five watts is the A121D’s maximum rated output, not a rate every device will draw. Anker lists USB Power Delivery profiles of 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A and 20V/2.25A, plus PPS ranges in its official specification page. The connected device and charger negotiate a supported rate; actual power can be lower and may decrease as the battery fills, as Anker notes on its product page.
To compare charging speed fairly, check the power profiles supported by both the charger and your device, then account for the device’s charging behavior and battery level. The 45W label alone cannot tell you which charger will be faster for a particular phone, tablet or other USB-C device.

What does the display show, and which devices are recognized?
Anker says the screen displays charging power in real time, along with temperature, charging mode and animations. It is not a touchscreen. The A121D’s quick-start guide explains how to navigate the display.
Anker lists device-name and battery-information recognition for iPhone 15, 16 and 17 series, except iPhone 17e, and iPad 10th generation or later. Recognition is not supported for Samsung or Pixel devices; Anker says they still charge normally. Older iPhones with Lightning connectors may charge but may not show battery percentage. Recognition is a convenience feature, not a requirement for USB-C charging.

What does Care Mode do, and how strong is the evidence?
Anker describes Care Mode as a lower-temperature charging mode. Anker’s product page reports that, in its internal lab testing, the A121D produced up to 9°F lower maximum internal phone-battery temperature than other 45W chargers during a full 0–100% charge at 77°F. This is a manufacturer-reported result under those stated conditions, not an independently verified comparison or a guarantee for every phone and charging session.

How does the physical design compare?
The A121D has one USB-C port and foldable prongs that rotate to 90° and 180°. Anker lists its dimensions as 3.4 × 3.5 × 4 cm and its weight as 75 g. The charging cable is not included, so you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable suitable for your device and charging needs.

Who should choose the A121D?
- Consider the A121D if you want its charging display, use a supported iPhone or iPad and value the rotating foldable plug or Care Mode.
- Consider a simpler 45W charger if you do not need those features. Compare the specific models’ supported profiles, port count, plug design and cable inclusion rather than assuming every charger in the category is alike.
- Check the price before buying: Anker’s US product page showed $39.99 when accessed, but price and availability can change.
