What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The right Anker accessory depends on your exact MacBook and how you use it: a compact hub for travel, a charger matched to your Mac’s recommended wattage, a desk dock, a USB-C power bank, or extra ports with Ethernet. Treat these as five use-case picks, not a tested ranking. Before buying, check your MacBook’s model and chip, external-display requirements, and recommended charging wattage against the accessory’s current compatibility information.
How to choose an Anker accessory for your MacBook
Hubs and docks add connections such as USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet and card readers, but their port combinations and Mac compatibility differ. A hub is generally the smaller, lighter choice for travel; a dock is more suited to a permanent desk setup. Anker explains these trade-offs in its USB-C hub and docking station guide.

- Start with the Mac: Check the model and chip generation. Do not assume that compatibility with one MacBook Air or Pro covers every generation.
- List the connections you need: Count monitors, USB devices, Ethernet and card-reader slots before choosing a hub or dock.
- Check the display arrangement: Confirm the supported resolution, refresh rate and number of external displays for your Mac and the accessory together. Display support can vary by Mac generation; Anker’s guide, for example, says M1 MacBooks support one external screen through a hub or dock. That statement should not be generalized to every Apple Silicon Mac.
- Match charging to your Mac: Apple recommends an adapter or display with at least the wattage recommended for the specific Mac for the best charging experience. Check Apple’s Mac power-adapter guidance and account for any power used by a hub.
- Consider where you will use it: A power bank is useful away from outlets, while a dock is intended to organize a desk. Neither replaces checking charging and compatibility specifications.
Five Anker picks by use case
| Use case | Accessory | What the manufacturer lists | Key check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portable multiport hub | Anker 547 USB-C Hub (7-in-2, for MacBook), A8354 | HDMI up to 4K at 60Hz, two USB-A data ports, one USB-C data port, SD and microSD slots, and USB-C PD input up to 100W with laptop pass-through | Retrieved compatibility information names MacBook Pro 13-inch and MacBook Air M1/M2; check the current product page for your exact model. |
| Compact wall charger | Anker 715 Charger (Nano II 65W), A2663 | 65W USB-C output; Anker says it can fast-charge MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro 13-inch | Confirm that 65W suits your exact MacBook and charging needs; this is not a universal MacBook Pro recommendation. |
| Desk setup | Anker 575 USB-C Docking Station (13-in-1) | Listed in Anker’s Apple docking-station collection | Verify Mac compatibility, monitor arrangement, charging and operating-system support on the product page. |
| Portable power | Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W, Built-In and Retractable Cables) | Listed in Anker’s Apple accessories collection; Anker advises checking power-bank output against the laptop’s needs | Confirm USB-C Power Delivery output suits your Mac. No specific recharge count or runtime is established for a particular model and workload. |
| Ethernet and expansion for listed older Macs | Anker 543 USB-C Hub (6-in-1, Slim), A8365 | USB-A and USB-C data, HDMI, Ethernet and PD pass-through; up to 53W to the laptop when paired with a 65W charger | Anker lists MacBook and MacBook Pro from 2017–2020 and MacBook Air 2018–2020. It explicitly says the hub is not compatible with M2-powered MacBooks. |
Best for a portable mix of ports: Anker 547 USB-C Hub
The 547 is the most MacBook-oriented travel hub among these picks: its listed connections cover common USB devices, HDMI, and SD and microSD cards in one portable accessory. Anker specifies HDMI output up to 4K at 60Hz and up to 100W PD input for pass-through charging. That 100W figure is the hub’s input rating, not a guarantee that 100W reaches the MacBook.
Anker’s retrieved compatibility listing identifies the MacBook Pro 13-inch and MacBook Air with M1 or M2. Since that listing does not establish compatibility with every current MacBook, check the product page for your exact configuration before purchase: Anker 547 USB-C Hub specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Best for a compact charger: Anker 715 Charger (Nano II 65W)
A small USB-C charger can reduce what you carry, but wattage should be chosen for the specific Mac rather than by the “MacBook” label alone. Anker lists 65W output for the 715 and says it can fast-charge MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro 13-inch. Apple’s guidance is to use a USB Power Delivery adapter or display with at least the wattage recommended for the exact USB-C-charging Mac for the best charging experience.
Check your Mac’s recommended adapter wattage before relying on this 65W option, particularly if you have a MacBook Pro configuration with a higher recommendation. See Anker 715 Charger specifications and Apple’s charging guidance.

Best for working away from outlets: Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W)
Anker lists the Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W, Built-In and Retractable Cables) in its Apple accessories collection. A power bank can charge a MacBook when its USB-C Power Delivery output is suitable for the laptop, but compatibility depends on the Mac’s needs and the bank’s output—not simply its capacity or product name.
Check the output details and your MacBook’s charging requirements in Anker’s MacBook portable-charger guidance. The available specifications do not establish how many full recharges or how much runtime this bank will provide for a particular MacBook and workload.

Anker says it is not compatible with MacBooks powered by the M2 chip; do not choose it for an M2 MacBook.
