In Counterpoint Research’s Q2 2026 smartphone sales data, HarmonyOS—listed as “Harmony”—ranks third worldwide and second in China. These are shares of phones sold during that quarter, not shares of active devices or people using each system.
Global smartphone sales: Android leads, HarmonyOS ranks third
Counterpoint Research puts Q2 2026 global smartphone sales share at 75% for Android, 20% for iOS and 5% for HarmonyOS (listed as “Harmony” by Counterpoint). On this measure, the ranking is Android first, iOS second and HarmonyOS third. The figures describe smartphones sold in that quarter, not the installed base of all phones in use. Counterpoint attributes iOS’s 20% share to demand for the iPhone 17 series and the launch of iPhone 17e. The firm also reported an 11% year-over-year decline in global smartphone sales in Q2 2026; that is market context, not an operating-system share or its denominator.
How the ranking changes in the United States, China and India
Counterpoint’s country figures are Q2 2026 shares of smartphone sales. The same quarter and metric make the market rankings comparable, but the table does not list Harmony separately for the United States or India.

Why web-usage rankings give a different answer
StatCounter measures operating-system shares through web usage, not new-phone sales. Its August 2026 worldwide mobile web-usage figures are 67.61% Android and 32.36% iOS; HarmonyOS is not separately listed in the opened table. This is a different metric and a different period from Counterpoint’s Q2 2026 sales figures, so the percentages should not be combined. Which operating system has the largest market share?
If “market share” means the share of smartphones sold worldwide, Android is first in Q2 2026. If it means mobile web usage worldwide, Android is also first in StatCounter’s August 2026 figures, but with a different percentage and measurement method. The available figures here do not establish a current global ranking by installed base—the share of all active phones—so neither sales nor web usage should be presented as that answer.
