NVIDIA’s possible use of Intel’s Foveros packaging in the second half of 2028 remains an analyst forecast, not a confirmed customer win. Intel’s roadmap does place Foveros development in 2028, and Intel and NVIDIA have announced a product-development collaboration—but neither company has confirmed that NVIDIA selected Foveros or placed an Intel Foundry order.

What the H2 2028 claim actually means

The claim is that NVIDIA might use Intel’s Foveros chip-packaging technology in H2 2028. It should not be read as evidence that Intel has already secured a major NVIDIA foundry contract. The available secondary report discusses possible packaging work and technical uncertainty, while the analyst and original report behind the specific forecast could not be verified in the sources reviewed.

That distinction matters because a potential packaging engagement, wafer fabrication and a confirmed product award are different things. Public materials establish Intel’s technology roadmap and a broader collaboration with NVIDIA; they do not establish a specific NVIDIA product, manufacturing order or Foveros adoption date.

What Intel has said about Foveros

Intel describes Foveros as a way to connect specialized chip tiles into a multi-chip system. Its 2025 Form 10-K characterizes Foveros as a 3D die-stacking technology and discusses multiple variants. Intel says hybrid-bonding support for Foveros Direct is planned on Intel 18A-PT in 2028. That is Intel’s roadmap statement—not confirmation that NVIDIA will use the technology. Intel’s advanced-packaging explainer describes the company’s packaging work, including facilities in New Mexico.

Intel employee Katie Prouty, manager of its Fab 9 advanced packaging facility in New Mexico, said: “Some of the customers are coming to us first for advanced packaging.” Intel Principal Engineer Chris Seibert described a step in the process: “Inside the fab, the chip attach tool is the first step in Intel’s Foveros advanced packaging process.” These statements show that Intel presents packaging as a service in its own right; they do not identify NVIDIA as a customer.

What the Intel–NVIDIA collaboration confirms—and what it does not

On September 18, 2025, NVIDIA and Intel announced a collaboration to develop multiple generations of custom data-center and PC products. The announcement confirms cooperation on product development, but it does not say those products will use Intel Foundry for wafer fabrication or Foveros for packaging, nor does it specify H2 2028 as an adoption date. The companies’ announcement is the relevant public confirmation.

Intel’s business results are also not evidence of a specific NVIDIA win. Intel reported Intel Foundry revenue of $5.8 billion in Q2 2026, up 31% year over year. That is company-wide revenue and does not name NVIDIA as a customer. Intel’s Q2 2026 results provide the financial context, not confirmation of the forecast.

How to judge the forecast

Question What is established What is not established
Has Intel put Foveros on a 2028 roadmap? Intel says Foveros Direct hybrid-bonding support is planned on Intel 18A-PT in 2028, according to its 2025 Form 10-K. This roadmap does not identify NVIDIA or a customer design.
Have Intel and NVIDIA announced cooperation? Yes. Their September 18, 2025 announcement covers development of multiple generations of custom data-center and PC products. The announcement does not specify an Intel Foundry order, Foveros use or H2 2028 deployment.
Is an NVIDIA Foveros award confirmed? No confirmation appears in the official Intel and NVIDIA materials cited here. A specific customer selection, product and schedule remain unconfirmed.
Is the analyst prediction independently identifiable? A secondary report discusses possible Intel packaging work and technical uncertainty. The analyst and original report behind the H2 2028 claim are unresolved in the sources reviewed.

Intel’s 10-K is a primary source for what the company says it plans to develop; NVIDIA and Intel’s joint announcement is primary evidence of their collaboration. Neither is proof of a customer award. The secondary account should therefore be treated as a report of a possibility, not as confirmation that a deal has been won.

What would turn the possibility into a confirmed win?

A stronger claim would require public evidence connecting NVIDIA to a specific Intel service or product—for example, an announcement naming Foveros, a disclosed Intel Foundry manufacturing arrangement, or a filing or company statement identifying the customer and scope. Until then, “might use” is the defensible wording. The roadmap makes the timing technically relevant, but it cannot establish customer intent or a commercial agreement.
