In a report published October 5, 2026, GameSpot said North had not heard about a new game in which he might return and had not been asked to come back. His condition was that another entry should live up to the franchise’s legacy.
Would Nolan North return as Nathan Drake?
Yes, if the opportunity arose. GameSpot reported that North voiced strong personal interest in reprising the role, telling the audience at Gamergy in Puerto Rico: “110%. Absolutely. I think it would be one of the biggest games ever if they decided to do it. It just depends if Sony wants to make money.”

GameSpot also quoted him saying: “I absolutely would. I try to stay in shape just in case. I can’t see a scenario where I would say no. I always keep out hope.” Those comments describe his willingness; they do not establish that Sony has approached him or made a casting decision.
What is Nolan North’s catch?
North’s enthusiasm came with a concern about protecting the series’ reputation. As GameSpot reported it, he did not want a new installment to fall short of the franchise’s standard, and compared the risk to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

He also framed a hypothetical announcement as a major business and gaming event, saying, “It is a business-my god, can you imagine if they did? It would be the biggest announcement in gaming. I don’t think that’s hyperbole. I think that’s true.” GameSpot is the source for these event remarks; the original event recording or transcript was not independently verified.
Is Uncharted 5 confirmed?
No. GameSpot characterized discussion of a new mainline game as rumor, and its October 5, 2026 report said North had not heard about a game in which he might return and had not been asked to come back. The report gives no confirmed announcement or release date. North’s hypothetical openness is not evidence of active development, a production schedule, or a cast.
