That dated report does not confirm the current Amazon seller, stock, or price. The $349 figure is AMD’s suggested price—not proof that AMD itself sells the chip directly to consumers for that amount.
Is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D really $349 on Amazon?
AMD announced the 10th Anniversary Edition on May 31, 2026, with availability beginning June 25 and a suggested etail price of $349. Tom’s Hardware reported on June 26 that Amazon had the processor available at MSRP. A Digital Citizen search-result extract dated October 2 reports $349 across two Amazon listing checks, but the page could not be retrieved and the live listing was not independently checked. Treat that as a dated report, not confirmation of an offer currently available to every buyer.

Before ordering, check the listing’s current price, seller, stock, shipping terms, and return policy. AMD’s suggested price does not identify the seller or guarantee that a retailer’s offer remains available.
What does “the same price AMD charges” mean?
The $349 amount is AMD’s suggested US etail launch price for this anniversary edition. It should not be read as a verified direct-to-consumer AMD checkout price. Retail offers can change, and the dated Amazon report does not establish who the seller was or whether the same offer is live now.

- The world's fastest gaming desktop processor and first gaming processor with 3D stacking technology
- 8 Cores and 16 processing threads with AMD 3D V-Cache technology
- 4.5 GHz Max Boost, 100 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the advanced Socket AM4 platform, can support PCIe 4.0 on X570 and B550 motherboards
- Cooler not included, high-performance cooler recommended
For context, AMD announced the original Ryzen 7 5800X3D in 2022 with a starting suggested price of $449. The anniversary edition’s suggested price is $100 lower than that original launch figure; the comparison is between AMD’s stated suggested prices, not a record of every street price over time.
Is it a sensible upgrade for an existing AM4 PC?
The clearest case for considering this processor is a gaming desktop that already uses an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 memory. In its June 2026 retest, Tom’s Hardware described the 5800X3D as a strong way to extract more performance from an AM4 system, while judging roughly $350 costly for a new build. That is the outlet’s assessment, not a universal ranking or a current comparison of every CPU and platform.

- Powerful Gaming Performance
- 8 Cores and 16 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 3" architecture
- 4.8 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 36 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the AMD Socket AM4 platform, with PCIe 4.0 support
- AMD Wraith Prism Cooler with RGB LED included
For an existing system, weigh the CPU purchase against the cost of replacing the motherboard and memory for a new platform. For a new PC, compare total platform cost and the workloads you care about rather than treating the CPU’s launch price as a complete value verdict. This information does not establish a current head-to-head performance result against alternative processors.
Key specifications and compatibility checks
| Specification | AMD-listed detail |
|---|---|
| Socket and memory | AM4; DDR4 |
| Cores and threads | 8 cores, 16 threads |
| Clock speeds | 3.4 GHz base; up to 4.5 GHz maximum boost |
| Cache | 96 MB L3 |
| Default TDP | 105W |
| Expansion interface | PCIe 4.0 |
AMD lists X570, X470, B550, B450, and A520 among supported chipsets. That is not a guarantee that every motherboard model, board revision, or BIOS version supports the CPU. Check the exact board’s CPU-support page and required BIOS version before buying; a chipset name alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Does the anniversary edition include a cooler?
No CPU cooler is included. AMD lists the processor’s thermal solution as not included and recommends liquid cooling for optimal performance. The anniversary edition does include a Carbice Ice Pad, which is a thermal interface pad—not a cooler—so it does not replace the cooling hardware your system needs.

In its 2022 launch announcement, AMD said the original 5800X3D could deliver up to 15% more gaming performance than processors without stacked-cache technology. That is AMD’s own claim and comparison, not an independent benchmark result or a guarantee for every game, PC configuration, or workload. The figure should not be used as a direct current comparison with specific competing CPUs.
