That is a notable price against TechSpot’s recent tracking, but the listing is time-sensitive: check the live price, seller, stock and shipping before buying. The available price history does not establish this as a record low, and it does not show how often prices reach this level.
What the $142.49 listing means
Slickdeals reported the Amazon offer at $142.49 on October 7, 2026, identifying the product as ASIN B0BBJDS62N. The deal page is a community listing, not a guarantee that the offer remains live. Verify the price and listing details on Amazon before checkout. See the Slickdeals listing.

For context, TechSpot showed $169 on October 6, 2026, a six-month average of $164, and a tracked six-month low of $146 dated June 24, 2026. Those tracker observations make $142.49 look attractive relative to recent pricing, but they come from a different source than the Amazon deal listing and do not prove a historical record low. Price pages can reflect offers with different sellers, stock and shipping conditions. TechSpot’s price and specifications page provides the dated tracking context.

The 7600X is a Zen 4 desktop processor for AMD’s Socket AM5 platform. AMD lists these specifications:
#1 Best Overall
- The Socket AM5 socket allows processor to be placed on the PCB without soldering
- Ryzen 5 product line processor for your convenience and optimal usage
- 5 nm process technology for reliable performance with maximum productivity
- Hexa-core (6 Core) processor core helps processor process data in a dependable and timely manner with maximum productivity
- 6 MB L2 plus 32 MB L3 cache memory provides excellent hit rate in short access time enabling improved system performance
| Specification | Ryzen 5 7600X |
|---|---|
| CPU cores and threads | 6 cores, 12 threads |
| Base clock | 4.7 GHz |
| Maximum boost clock | Up to 5.3 GHz |
| Cache | 32 MB L3, 6 MB L2 |
| Default TDP | 105 W |
| Socket and memory | AM5; two-channel DDR5 UDIMM |
| Integrated graphics | Radeon Graphics with two graphics cores |
These are AMD’s published product specifications, not independent benchmark results. The integrated graphics can provide basic display output, but should not be treated as a replacement for a discrete gaming graphics card. AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X specifications also list compatible chipset families including A620, B650/B650E, X670/X670E, X870/X870E, B840 and B850. Confirm support for the exact processor and any BIOS requirements with your motherboard maker.
Budget for the complete AM5 build
The processor price is not the cost of a usable platform. A new AM5 build also needs an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory, and the boxed 7600X does not include a cooler. AMD recommends a premium air cooler for optimal performance. Choose a cooler that supports AM5 and fits your case; do not assume one is bundled with the CPU.
Rank #2
- Pure gaming performance with smooth 100+ FPS in the world's most popular games
- 6 Cores and 12 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 5" architecture
- 5.4 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 38 MB cache, DDR5-5600 support
- For the state-of-the-art Socket AM5 platform, can support PCIe 5.0 on select motherboards
- Cooler not included
The deal is easiest to justify if you already own compatible AM5 hardware or were already planning an AM5 build. If you are starting from scratch, compare the total price of the CPU, motherboard, memory and cooler against complete alternative platform costs. AMD’s 2022 launch announcement gave the 7600X a suggested e-tail price of $299 at launch; that is historical context, not a meaningful current-value benchmark. AMD’s Ryzen 7000 launch announcement.

Is it a gaming powerhouse at this price?
AMD markets the processor as a six-core gaming chip, while TechRadar’s October 2, 2026 processor guide describes it as a value-oriented Zen 4 option and notes that motherboard and memory costs matter when moving to AM5. Those are vendor and buying-guide assessments, not controlled comparisons of current gaming performance.
Rank #3
- Pure gaming performance with smooth 100+ FPS in the world's most popular games
- 6 Cores and 12 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 4" architecture
- 5.3 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 38 MB cache, DDR5-5200 support
- AMD AM5 Socket: Supports AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processors
- DDR5 Compatible: 4*DIMMs with AMD EXPO & Intel XMP Memory Module Support
TechSpot’s review from 2022 judged the 7600X capable of high-end gaming performance at a competitive price, while noting that other products could offer similar performance for less. That review should not be read as a current ranking: there is no current, controlled benchmark comparison here to support a specific frame-rate claim or a claim that the 7600X is the best budget gaming CPU in 2026. Who should consider buying it?
- Existing AM5 owners: A low processor price may make an upgrade or replacement worthwhile, subject to your board’s CPU and BIOS support.
- New AM5 builders: Consider it if the complete platform fits your budget after adding DDR5, a motherboard and a separate cooler.
- Buyers comparing gaming CPUs: Check recent, like-for-like benchmarks for the games and settings you care about rather than relying on the “powerhouse” label or an older review.
- Anyone chasing the offer: Confirm the live Amazon price, seller, availability and shipping; the October 7 listing is not a promise of continuing stock or price.
