How to find your Amazon About You profile
Amazon announced these navigation steps on May 13, 2026. Interface labels and routes can change, so the exact wording may differ by app version or account.

In the Amazon Shopping app
- Open the Amazon Shopping app and tap Me.
- Tap your name.
- Tap About You.
On desktop
- Hover over your name above Account & Lists.
- Open your name or choose Who’s shopping?.

Amazon introduced About You on May 13, 2026 as a place for customers to see and manage personal details used to personalize shopping recommendations. The company says recommendations can draw on purchase history, conversations with Alexa for Shopping, product reviews, Lists, and searches. Amazon Staff described its rationale as: “Understanding your preferences is fundamental to providing you with high-quality, relevant recommendations.” That explains Amazon’s stated purpose; it does not establish that any particular inference is correct.

- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
Amazon’s examples include suggesting cat treats after learning about a cat’s food preferences, related gardening items after seeds or tools are added to a List, and other non-dairy products based on regular non-dairy milk purchases. These are examples of the company’s explanation, not a guarantee that every signal produces the same result for every customer.
Think of the profile as a set of personalization details, not a completed questionnaire or verified biography. Amazon says the page consolidates controls previously available through recommendation preferences or browsing-history editing.

Why shoppers say Amazon is “roasting” them
Fast Company reported on October 6, 2026 that screenshots shared on social media showed observations some shoppers found unusually personal, touching on bodies, relationships, purchases, and habits. The article attributed examples to individual accounts, including a Threads user named Megan Montgomery. They are reported screenshots, not evidence that Amazon verified the observations, that they are true, or that other customers see the same thing.
Amazon says customers can give feedback on specific details, update them, or remove details they do not want used for personalization. After opening About You, review entries individually and use the available controls on the details you want to change or remove.

Can you turn About You off?
Fast Company reported on October 6, 2026 that shoppers could edit or delete profile details but could not directly opt out of the About You feature. That is a dated report, not a timeless statement of Amazon’s controls. Check the options currently shown in your account; removing a detail is not the same as disabling the feature.

About You gives customers a way to inspect the personal details Amazon says it uses for shopping personalization. Neither Amazon’s announcement nor Fast Company’s report establishes how each individual entry was generated or whether it accurately describes a shopper. If a detail seems wrong or too personal, use the page’s feedback, update, or removal controls rather than treating it as a verified fact.
