Amazon’s refreshed Fire TV Stick 4K moves to Vega OS, adds a slimmer design that can draw power from a TV’s USB port, and ships with a redesigned remote. Its reported hardware includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and 8 GB of storage. Amazon says apps launch more than 35% faster and playback starts up to 20% faster than before, but those figures are company claims, not independently verified benchmark results.
What changed on the new Fire TV Stick 4K?
Announced at the end of September 2026, the refreshed Fire TV Stick 4K is Amazon’s latest 4K streaming device. Regional launch communications were dated 1 October 2026. Compared with the previous Fire TV Stick 4K Select, the new model brings a different operating system, updated wireless specifications, a slimmer body and a redesigned remote.
- Vega OS: The new stick ships with Amazon’s Vega OS.
- Slimmer design and Direct Power: Amazon says the included cable lets the stick draw power from a television’s USB port, reducing cable clutter.
- Updated connectivity: It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
- Redesigned remote: The remote has tactile design changes, TV controls and a customizable star button.
Amazon describes the new model as faster than the previous Fire TV Stick 4K Select. It says apps can launch more than 35% faster and content can begin playing up to 20% faster. These are Amazon’s claims, reported by Android Central; they should not be treated as independent test results.

Can you power it from your TV’s USB port?
Yes. Amazon says the slimmer stick supports Direct Power from a television USB port when used with the included cable. That can reduce the need for a separate power connection and keep the setup tidier. The announcement does not specify which USB ports or television models provide sufficient power, so if the stick does not operate reliably from your TV’s port, use the power arrangement specified in the product instructions.

The clearest changes are Vega OS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, the slimmer Direct Power design and the new remote. If you are comparing it with another streaming device, check more than the headline speed claims: operating system and app availability, video and HDR format support, storage, power setup, remote controls and your local price all affect whether it suits your setup. The advertised improvements in app launch and playback-start speed have not been independently verified in the cited launch coverage.
