WIRED’s October 6, 2026 Prime Big Deal Days guide listed the 2024, 11th-generation base Kindle for $104, down from a $150 listed price. That makes it a notable discount from the price reported at the time—not proof of an all-time low. Check the live listing for today’s price, stock, model year, and configuration before buying.
What the $104 Kindle deal is
The offer covered Amazon’s 2024, 11th-generation base Kindle. WIRED described it as the least expensive Kindle in its roundup and reported that its listed price had risen by $40 to $150 in August 2026. The $104 deal was therefore a temporary reduction from that recently raised list price. The guide did not establish an all-time-low price or a promotion end date. WIRED’s Prime Big Deal Days guide is dated October 6, 2026; the offer may have changed since then.

What you get—and what you give up
The base Kindle has a 6-inch screen and does not offer warm light. If you read at night and want to shift the screen toward a warmer tone, that is a meaningful difference between it and the Paperwhite.

A separate Android Police article syndicated by Yahoo said the offer included three months of Kindle Unlimited. That bundle detail has not been confirmed against a live Amazon listing, so treat it as unverified: check the product page and checkout terms for eligibility, duration, and whether the trial applies to your account before counting it as part of the deal. The syndicated Android Police report on Yahoo is the source for that claim.
