Which Kindles did Amazon redesign in 2026?
Amazon’s 2026 announcement covers the Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft families. The company says the refreshed devices are thinner and lighter, use a new reverse-stack display construction, and have flush-front displays with color carried from front to back. These are Amazon’s product descriptions, not independent measurements.

- Kindle: The compact entry-level reader; Amazon also describes an aluminum-backed option in the refreshed family.
- Paperwhite: The waterproof option, with adjustable warm light.
- Colorsoft: The color-reading option.

“Every Kindle” needs a qualification: the Scribe was part of Amazon’s separate 2024 US lineup announcement, which also introduced the first color Kindle, a new Paperwhite and a new entry Kindle. Amazon then described that Paperwhite as its thinnest and fastest to date, with 25% faster page turns and up to three months of battery life. Amazon says Kindle users read more than 720 billion pages in 2025 and that Kindle saw double-digit global growth for three consecutive years. Those are company-reported figures, rather than independent measurements. (Amazon, 2024; Amazon, 2026)

What does the Kindle Click remote do?
Kindle Click is a compact Bluetooth remote for turning pages. TechRadar describes two large buttons for moving forward and backward, plus smaller side buttons for brightness. Amazon specifically points to reading in bed, on a treadmill, or with a Kindle propped at a distance as situations where a remote can help. Will Kindle Click work with your Kindle, and is it worth buying instead of upgrading?
Amazon says Kindle Click is compatible with all new Kindle devices and any Kindle model released in 2024 or later. If your reader falls outside that stated range, compatibility is not established by Amazon’s announcement. Check the product listing for your region and model before buying.

At the reported US launch price of $34.99, the remote is worth considering if reaching for the Kindle interrupts a reading setup you use often. The $35 figure is a rounded launch-price description, not a verified current US price. Amazon’s regional announcement lists A$49.95 in Australia and NZ$64.95 in New Zealand; those are region-specific prices, not US pricing. Confirm local price and stock before purchase. Whether it beats replacing your reader depends on what you want to improve. Click addresses hands-free page turns. A new Kindle family member makes more sense if you want a feature your current device lacks, such as color reading, waterproofing or adjustable warm light. Amazon’s announcement does not establish a universal “best upgrade,” and the remote’s value depends on your reading habits and its actual price where you live.

- Consider Kindle Click if you already like your Kindle and regularly read with it out of reach, such as in bed, on a treadmill or propped up nearby.
- Consider a new reader if you want a display or device feature your current model does not offer; the remote does not provide color, waterproofing or warm light.
- Consider the Page-Turn Cover if you own a compatible Paperwhite Signature Edition or Colorsoft Signature Edition and prefer physical buttons on the cover.
- Skip the remote if you are comfortable turning pages on the device and hands-free reading would not change your routine.
