Target Circle Deal Days runs October 6–7, but its sale prices require a free Target Circle account. Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, also reported for October 6–7, requires Prime for its member-exclusive deals. Event dates and terms can change, so check the retailer’s current listing before buying.
Which Prime Day alternatives are available without a paid membership?
The October options below are for the U.S. sale window and reflect USA Today reporting dated October 1, 2026. Walmart’s event is the reported choice with no membership requirement; Target requires a free loyalty account for its sale pricing.

Amazon’s June 2026 announcement listed U.S. Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year; confirm the current price and any trial or discounted eligibility directly with Amazon. Amazon describes Prime Day deals as exclusive to Prime members, though it says eligible customers may have trial or discounted membership options. A free Target Circle account is a different trade-off from a paid membership: it still involves creating an account and checking the terms attached to the offer.

These events are not limited to October. In June 2026, Walmart and Best Buy held competing sale events June 22–28, while Target Circle Deal Days ran June 23–26. The dates are historical, but the pattern is useful: major retailers may run overlapping promotions around Amazon’s event, with a mix of open offers, loyalty-account pricing, and member-only early access.

Walmart’s June event and early access
Walmart’s official announcement said Walmart Deals ran online from 12:01 a.m. ET on June 22, 2026, and in stores from 6 a.m. local time, through June 28. It described thousands of offers across electronics, fashion, toys, collectibles, furniture, skincare, and other categories. Eligible Walmart+ members received first access to a selected online assortment for the first 24 hours; items still available after that period were to open to all customers. That distinction matters: an event can be broadly open while some specific deals start behind a membership window.
Look beyond the event banners
Retailers including Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Best Buy, and direct-to-consumer brands were included in NBC Select’s June 26, 2026 comparison of sale offers in tech, beauty, home, and footwear. The article compared Sony WH-CH520 wireless headphones across retailers, illustrating the value of checking the exact same model at more than one store. Its listed prices were event-specific historical examples, not current offers.

How to tell whether a deal is actually worth buying
- Match the exact product. Compare the same brand, model number, size, color, and bundle. Similar-looking products can have different specifications or accessories, and a different SKU is not a like-for-like price comparison.
- Check the access terms. Look for a paid membership requirement, free loyalty-account requirement, or member-only early access period. Confirm whether the offer is open to everyone now or only after an early-access window.
- Compare the checkout total. Include shipping or pickup costs and any other charges shown before purchase. A discount badge alone does not show that a retailer has the lowest final price.
- Review stock and timing. Confirm the event end date, item availability, and whether the price applies only during a limited window. Sale inventory can run out before an event ends.
- Check fulfillment and returns. Compare delivery or pickup convenience, return terms, and who the seller is. A marketplace listing may have different conditions from a retailer-sold item.
- Use a budget and price benchmark. Start with a product you already planned to buy and a price you consider acceptable. Promotional percentages are event-specific; the cited event coverage does not establish a typical savings amount for shoppers generally.
What the reported deal figures do—and do not—show
Walmart described its June 2026 event as featuring thousands of offers. Amazon’s June 2026 U.S. announcement described a Prime assortment of 300 million items across more than 35 categories. Those are retailer statements about their own events and assortments, not independent measures of deal quality or shopper savings. No generalizable figure for typical savings from Prime Day alternatives is established by the cited coverage. Treat sale prices and percentage discounts as specific to an item, seller, and event.
