Amazon has moved its purpose-built delivery glasses into field use, and plans to expand the program to more than 20,000 devices by the end of 2027. The glasses put package details, walking directions, delivery confirmation and alerts in a driver’s field of view; Amazon says wearing them is voluntary for Delivery Service Partner owners and their teams.
What Amazon’s delivery glasses do
The glasses are designed for Amazon Delivery Associates (DAs), not as a general-purpose consumer product. Amazon describes them as one part of its last-mile delivery system: they can identify packages, show walking directions, capture proof of delivery and issue alerts, reducing the need to handle a phone during the final steps of a stop.

From the van to the doorstep
After an associate safely parks, the glasses activate and show delivery information in the wearer’s field of view to help match a package to its destination. Amazon says its geospatial guidance then helps the associate navigate on foot, including through complex settings such as apartment buildings. The system also supports hands-free scanning and proof of delivery.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteAddress and pet alerts
Amazon says cameras, computer vision and AI-powered sensing support real-time defect detection. For example, the glasses can alert an associate if a package appears to have been left at an address that does not match the delivery. A paw icon and audio alert can signal that delivery information indicates a pet may be present. These are features Amazon describes; the company has not published an independently measured accuracy rate for them.

Hardware and privacy details
The setup includes a small controller worn in the delivery vest and a swappable battery intended to last through a workday. Amazon also lists an emergency button for contacting emergency services, support for prescription lenses, light-adjusting transitional lenses and a hardware privacy switch. The company’s announcement does not explain how long camera data is retained, how recording is indicated or who can access recorded material, so the privacy switch alone does not answer those questions.
How many devices are in use, and where?
In an update dated September 21, 2026, Amazon said more than 500 Delivery Associates had tested the glasses over 18 months and completed more than 275,000 customer deliveries with them. These are company-reported trial figures, not an independently audited count of all current users.

Amazon said it planned to deploy 5,000 additional devices during 2026 and have more than 20,000 devices in the field by the end of 2027. The target is a planned fleet size, not the number currently deployed. Amazon has not published a city-by-city or delivery-station rollout schedule, and its announcement does not say that every Amazon delivery driver will use the glasses.

Are drivers required to wear them?
Amazon says participation is voluntary for both Delivery Service Partner (DSP) owners and their teams. The glasses are therefore an optional workplace tool under the program as described by the company, not equipment Amazon says every associate must wear.
What is established about safety and accuracy?
Amazon presents the system as a way to help associates keep their attention forward and improve delivery safety and accuracy. It has not provided a controlled or independently measured estimate of the glasses’ effect on crash rates, delivery speed or delivery accuracy. The company-published account from tester Kaleb M. of Maddox Logistics Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska, says he felt safer because information appeared in his field of view; that testimonial describes one worker’s experience, not an independent evaluation.
