“AI pendant” can describe very different behaviors. Before comparing specifications, decide where you want the control to sit.
Ambient memory
Bee and Fieldy 3 are designed around wearing the device through ordinary activities. The benefit is continuity: you are less likely to forget a useful detail because you did not remember to open an app or press a button. The cost is a more complicated consent conversation and a greater need to understand how audio, transcripts, and derived summaries are retained.
Intentional capture

User-directed and programmable capture

AI wearables can capture other people’s voices, names, health details, business information, and private circumstances. The legal standard for recording varies by jurisdiction, and workplace or professional rules can be stricter than local law. Before recording, identify where the conversation occurs, who is participating, and whether your organization has a policy requiring notice or written consent.
Amazon says Bee uses a visible LED and a button to control recording, processes audio in real time, deletes the audio, and encrypts transcripts that remain under the customer’s control. Those statements describe Bee’s stated design; they do not remove your obligation to tell people when you are recording them.
With any device, ask these practical questions before purchase:
- Can recording be clearly indicated to people nearby?
- What remains after transcription: raw audio, transcript, embeddings, summaries, or all of them?
- Can you delete individual conversations and export your data?
- Where are recordings and transcripts processed and stored?
- Which features send information to a cloud service or a third-party AI model?
- Can an employer, family member, or shared account holder access the resulting memory?
Omi’s open-source positioning may provide the greatest opportunity to inspect and control software and models, but control depends on how you deploy and maintain it. A self-managed workflow can still expose data through cloud services you connect.
