Amazon’s Alexa Tablet 8 starts at $229.99 in the United States with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It is an 8.7-inch Android tablet with an all-aluminum body, a weight of 329 g, and a battery rated for up to 14 hours of video playback. The “$229” in the headline is a rounded form of that starting price. The 14-hour figure is Amazon’s own claim, not a measured result. Amazon announced the tablet on October 8, 2026, in its announcement of the new Alexa Tablets.
What Amazon has published about the Tablet 8
The Tablet 8 is the smallest and most portable model in Amazon’s new Alexa Tablet line, which also includes the Alexa Tablet 11 and the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. The table lists the specifications Amazon gives for the model. Where the announcement is silent, the table says so.

Design and portability
Amazon describes the Tablet 8 as an all-aluminum design at 7.95 mm thick and 329 g. The announcement does not describe the chassis as a unibody, so the headline’s “unibody” should be read as shorthand for the all-aluminum body rather than a separately verified construction detail. Amazon presents the Tablet 8 as the most portable option in its range. Its screen is 8.7 inches, so it is best suited to a small, light device rather than a substitute for a larger display.
Amazon says the lineup supports a range of protective folios. The announcement does not name a folio for the Tablet 8 or confirm which cases fit it, so check the compatibility details on the product listing before buying an accessory.

Battery life: what the 14 hours means
Amazon rates the Tablet 8 at up to 14 hours of video playback. The announcement does not give the test conditions behind that number, such as screen brightness, video resolution, network type, or whether it comes from a lab test. Treat “up to 14 hours” as a ceiling under conditions Amazon has not published, not as a typical day of use.
Amazon’s broader announcement cites up to 20 hours of Kindle reading across the lineup. It does not give a Tablet 8-specific Kindle figure, so the 20-hour number should not be assumed to apply to this model.
