As of October 2026, new customers are directed to The X Subscription, a combined plan covering X, Grok and Cursor. The practical alternative depends on which of those products you actually use: Claude Pro can cover general AI and coding, Cursor remains a dedicated coding choice for eligible subscribers, GitHub Copilot is another coding-focused option, and X itself still has a free tier. No single standalone service documented here replaces all three parts of the bundle.
Before comparing prices, separate the current bundle from legacy X Premium pages. Existing subscribers can retain eligible plans, while account unification can cancel linked subscriptions and becomes permanent once completed.

What changed with The X Subscription
The official October 2026 announcement describes The X Subscription as one subscription bringing together X Premium features, Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor. New customers see the combined offer rather than being directed first to the older standalone arrangements. Existing X Premium, Cursor and SuperGrok customers can keep their current plans or elect to switch.
The new offer has five published monthly levels. Prices are before sales tax where applicable, and the amount shown at checkout can vary by country, billing channel and later terms changes.
#1 Best Overall
| Tier | Monthly price | What the published structure indicates |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Access to X without a paid subscription |
| Plus | $8/month | Paid bundle tier; Grok Bot is not included |
| Premium | $30/month | Includes Grok Bot |
| Super | $100/month | Includes Grok Bot |
| Ultra | $200/month | Includes Grok Bot |
Annual billing is listed for the four paid tiers:
| Tier | Annual price | Equivalent monthly cost when paid annually |
|---|---|---|
| Plus | $80/year | $6.67 |
| Premium | $300/year | $25 |
| Super | $1,000/year | $83.33 |
| Ultra | $2,000/year | $166.67 |
The annual figures represent one upfront payment. Compared with paying the corresponding monthly price for 12 months, each paid annual tier is about 16.7% cheaper before tax: $16 less for Plus, $60 less for Premium, $200 less for Super and $400 less for Ultra. That saving only matters if you expect to keep the same tier for the full year.
Do not mix the legacy X Premium prices with the new tiers
An older X Help Center page still lists US web prices for legacy X Premium plans. Those figures describe existing or legacy arrangements, not a second set of current bundle tiers.
| Legacy plan shown on the X Help Center page | US web price |
|---|---|
| Basic | $3/month |
| Premium | $8/month |
| Premium+ | $40/month |
The same page documents substantial country variation. Treat these as country-specific web-billing figures for legacy plans, not as a universal price list for new customers.
Start with the part of the bundle you need
The bundle looks inexpensive or expensive only in relation to your actual usage. List your needs in three separate categories before choosing a replacement.
If X’s social features are the priority
The Free tier means you can continue using X without buying a paid X Subscription. That is the simplest way to retain your existing account and audience while dropping paid bundle features.
Rank #2
If you intend to leave X, a different social network may be appropriate, but the available evidence does not establish a single best replacement. Audiences, moderation policies, posting formats, discovery and paid features differ by network and change frequently. Choose based on where the people and communities you need already participate rather than assuming a universal winner.
If you mainly want general AI
Claude Pro is the clearest documented standalone alternative in this comparison. Anthropic lists it at $20 per month or $200 billed annually up front. The plan adds usage and features beyond Claude’s free tier and includes Claude Code, making it relevant to both general assistance and software work.
Claude Pro does not provide X’s social account, audience or Premium features. If you would otherwise pay for X only to obtain social benefits, you would still need to decide whether the Free X tier is sufficient or whether leaving X is preferable.
If coding is the main reason you considered the bundle
Cursor is a dedicated coding product. Its published standalone page lists an Individual plan at $20 per month and a Teams plan at $40 per user per month. The availability qualification matters: the October 2026 announcement says new customers begin with The X Subscription, while existing Cursor subscribers may keep a current plan or switch. Confirm that a standalone sign-up is available for your account and country before treating the listed price as an immediately obtainable option.
GitHub Copilot is another coding-focused route. GitHub documents a monthly AI Credit allowance and allows additional usage after the allowance is exhausted. Billing depends on the model and tokens consumed. The current individual plan price is not stated in the cited documentation, so check GitHub’s live pricing and checkout pages before calculating a total. Copilot addresses coding assistance, not X’s social layer or a general-purpose bundle in the same account.
Price and capability comparison
The following figures are the published amounts available for each product. They are not a usage-equivalence calculation: each service measures access, model use and overages differently.
| Option | Published price | Best fit | Important limitation or cost driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| The X Subscription Plus | $8/month or $80/year | People wanting the entry paid bundle | Grok Bot is not included; Grok and Cursor draw from a shared weekly allowance |
| The X Subscription Premium | $30/month or $300/year | Users who want the bundle and Grok Bot | Shared usage pool; top-ups and third-party models can add cost |
| The X Subscription Super | $100/month or $1,000/year | Heavy users who value higher published access | Shared allowance still spans Grok and Cursor |
| The X Subscription Ultra | $200/month or $2,000/year | Users seeking the highest listed bundle tier | Annual prepayment and usage overages require monitoring |
| Claude Pro | $20/month or $200 billed annually | General AI plus coding through Claude Code | No X social features; verify current checkout terms |
| Cursor Individual | $20/month | Individual coding workflows | Standalone availability may depend on account status during the transition |
| Cursor Teams | $40/user/month | Shared team coding administration | Does not supply X social features or a general social subscription |
| GitHub Copilot | Individual price not stated in the cited documentation | Coding assistance inside GitHub-supported workflows | Monthly AI Credits can be exhausted; extra use is billed by model and tokens |
How the shared Grok–Cursor allowance changes the calculation
The X Subscription does not give Grok and Cursor completely independent included usage. The official terms describe one shared weekly allowance covering Grok models across the products. Using more Grok can leave less of that allowance for Cursor, and intensive Cursor work can reduce what remains for Grok.
Third-party models are outside the shared pool
When Cursor uses third-party models such as Claude or GPT, that usage is not included in the shared Grok–Cursor allowance. It is billed separately. A developer who selects those models therefore needs to budget for both the X Subscription and the model provider’s charges.
Top-ups can change the headline price
The official documents allow top-ups to add usage beyond the included amount. Compare your likely overage spending, not only the advertised tier. Someone who uses AI agents every day may pay more through repeated top-ups than a lighter user on a lower tier, while a social-first user may never consume the allowance.
A practical usage audit
- Record how many days per week you use Grok and how many coding sessions use Cursor.
- Mark whether your Cursor work relies on Grok models or on third-party Claude, GPT or other models.
- Estimate how often you would need a top-up after the included weekly amount is exhausted.
- Separate features you would use from features you would merely receive, such as social benefits you never open.
- Compare that pattern with a dedicated AI or coding subscription rather than assuming one bundle dollar equals one standalone dollar.
No source-supported formula converts the weekly allowance into an equivalent number of prompts, files or coding hours across vendors. Usage limits, model choice and token accounting make a universal comparison unreliable.
Rank #4
Claude Pro as an AI-and-coding replacement
Claude Pro costs $20 monthly or $200 when billed annually in advance. Anthropic describes additional usage and features compared with its free tier and includes Claude Code, so it can serve readers who want one general AI service that also supports software development.
Choose Claude Pro when
- Your primary activities are research, writing, analysis or programming rather than social posting.
- You prefer a separate monthly or annual AI subscription instead of a shared Grok–Cursor allowance.
- You want Claude Code included in the same plan.
- You do not need X Premium features or a replacement social audience.
Keep expectations realistic
Claude Pro is not a one-for-one replacement for X. It supplies no X account, timeline, followers, posting tools or X Premium benefits. If you still need X, pair Claude Pro with the Free X tier and compare that combined cost with the X Subscription tier you would otherwise choose.
Cursor and GitHub Copilot for coding-only users
Cursor
The listed Individual price is $20 per month, with Teams at $40 per user per month. Cursor makes sense when an editor-centered coding workflow matters more than social access or a bundled AI identity. During the 2026 account transition, confirm whether your account is eligible for a standalone plan: existing subscribers may retain their plan or switch, while new customers are directed to The X Subscription.
GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot is designed around coding assistance and documents a monthly AI Credit allowance. After credits are exhausted, additional usage can be purchased, with billing tied to the selected model and token consumption. Because the cited material does not establish a current individual price, use GitHub’s live pricing page and the account’s own billing screen when comparing it with Cursor or an X tier.

What existing subscribers should know before switching
Switching is optional for eligible existing subscribers. You can keep current plans, prices and features unless you change or cancel them. The risk is not the choice of tier alone but the account-unification process.
- Identify every billing channel. Check whether X, Grok or Cursor is billed on the web, through Apple or through Google Play.
- Review linked accounts. Confirm which X, Grok and Cursor accounts will be combined and which subscription each account currently owns.
- Read the selected tier and renewal term. Verify monthly versus annual billing, tax treatment and the plan shown at checkout.
- Check cancellation and proration details. Eligible linked Cursor, Grok and paid X Premium subscriptions may be canceled when accounts are unified, with unused time prorated according to the official terms.
- Handle Apple-billed Cursor separately when required. A Cursor subscription billed through Apple requires cancellation through Apple; Apple or Google Play may also control parts of the refund or renewal process.
- Confirm only when you accept permanence. The official overview says completed unification cannot be undone by Support.
Take screenshots or save the confirmation showing the selected plan, renewal date and refund treatment. Those records are especially useful when multiple stores or accounts are involved.
Decision guide: which route fits?
Choose the Free X tier plus a separate AI plan
This route suits someone who wants to retain an X identity but uses AI more than social Premium features. The Free tier preserves X access, while Claude Pro provides a clearly priced AI-and-coding service without drawing from a Cursor allowance.

Use Cursor when its editor workflow is the deciding factor and standalone eligibility is confirmed. Consider GitHub Copilot when your development process is centered on GitHub and you are comfortable tracking AI Credits, model selection and token-based overages.
Choose The X Subscription
The bundle is rational when you actively use X, Grok and Cursor and the shared weekly allowance covers your combined workload. Premium and higher include Grok Bot; Plus does not. Before paying annually, verify that your expected use will remain stable long enough to justify the upfront commitment.
Do not pay for unused components
If you never post on X, never use Grok Bot and write code only occasionally, a high bundle tier can purchase capacity you will not consume. Conversely, replacing a heavy Grok-and-Cursor workload with a low standalone plan may simply move the cost into top-ups or separate model charges.
Questions to verify at checkout
- Is the price shown for your country and billing channel?
- Is sales tax added before payment?
- Does the selected tier include Grok Bot?
- What is your remaining shared weekly allowance after current Grok or Cursor use?
- Will third-party models in Cursor generate separate charges?
- Are you buying monthly or paying the annual amount up front?
- If switching accounts, which existing subscriptions will be canceled and how will unused time be prorated?
- Can your app store process the cancellation or refund, or must you use the web account?
Those checks matter more than a simple monthly-price ranking because the bundle combines social access, AI models and coding capacity under one usage system.

The Bottom Line
Use The X Subscription only if you genuinely need its X, Grok and Cursor combination. For AI and coding without the social layer, Claude Pro is the most clearly priced standalone alternative in the available evidence; Cursor and GitHub Copilot are coding-specific choices. Existing subscribers should inspect billing channels and account links carefully because unification can cancel linked plans and cannot be reversed.
