Allianz has announced a reciprocal leadership transition: Philipp Kroetz is scheduled to become CEO of Allianz Partners, while Laurent Floquet is scheduled to become CEO of Allianz Direct, both on November 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Tomas Kunzmann, the outgoing Allianz Partners CEO, is scheduled to join the Allianz SE Board of Management on January 1, 2027.

Allianz announced the changes on October 1, 2026. The two CEO transitions are separate appointments at two different businesses, not a combined leadership role. Allianz has not named a successor to Floquet as Allianz Partners COO; it says that appointment will be announced in due course. Allianz’s announcement makes the regulatory-approval condition explicit.

What is changing, and when?
Kroetz has led Allianz Direct since January 2022. On November 1, 2026, he is scheduled to move to Allianz Partners as CEO, taking over from Kunzmann. Floquet, who became Allianz Partners COO in January 2025, is scheduled to take over as Allianz Direct CEO on that same November date. Kunzmann’s move to the Allianz SE Board of Management has a later effective date: January 1, 2027.
These are announced future changes, not confirmation that the appointments have already taken effect. Allianz says the November transitions are subject to regulatory approval, so their completion should not be assumed before that condition is met.

Who is Philipp Kroetz?
Kroetz has been CEO of Allianz Direct since 2022. Allianz describes Allianz Direct as its European direct property and casualty (P&C) insurer. In its October 2026 announcement, the company says Kroetz renewed the platform and expanded its customer base across five European markets.
Allianz reported that Allianz Direct served more than 3.2 million customers and recorded total business volume above €1.5 billion in 2025. The company also reported 23% year-over-year growth and a 95% combined ratio for 2025. These are figures published by Allianz, not independently validated here. The announcement says the customer rating rose from 4.4 to 4.6 stars but does not identify the rating platform in the cited text. Allianz’s release provides the company’s account of Kroetz’s leadership and the business figures.

Floquet became Allianz Partners COO in January 2025. Allianz’s biography says he previously served on the company’s Board of Management with responsibility for Assistance, and held earlier roles in Mobility & Assistance, regional leadership and sales. He joined Allianz in 2014 after more than ten years at Accenture, where he was a partner focused on insurance. This background is based on Allianz’s own account. The announcement does not name his successor as COO.

Allianz presents the leadership changes as continuity and growth following Kunzmann’s appointment to the Allianz SE Board of Management. The company links both businesses to its “Connected Platforms” concept, describing customer-facing digital and cross-border models spanning motor, home, travel, assistance and health. That is Allianz’s characterization of its strategy, rather than an independent assessment of the businesses or their market position.
The October 1 announcement contains no attributed quotation from a named executive. Its strategic explanation is presented as the company’s rationale, not as a personal statement by Kroetz, Floquet or Kunzmann.
