What ALLFATHER is about
Tommy McKay is listed as both developer and publisher on the Steam listing. The premise follows a shieldmaiden rejected by the Valkyries. Her journey through Helheim toward Valhalla takes her across Norse-inspired realms, each presented as a distinct biome with its own environments, enemies and bosses.

The game is described as a first-person roguelike dungeon crawler. Each attempt is a new climb: dungeon layouts are procedurally generated, and the route’s portals and rewards give players decisions to make as they advance.
How a run plays out
Combat rewards patience and awareness
The reveal emphasizes stamina management, timing and awareness rather than indiscriminate attacks. In announcement coverage, McKay put the intended pace this way: “Button mashing gets you killed, awareness and patience keep you alive.” That framing suggests combat in which reading a threat and choosing when to act matter as much as dealing damage.

Route choices shape each attempt
Doors lock behind the player, and defeating bosses closes off regions. Portal choices affect which rewards come next, so the route is not simply a matter of clearing every available room. Experience and leveling, selectable rewards, divine blessings and relics offer ways to develop a character during a run; relics can reshape how that attempt works.
McKay’s design explanation, as attributed in the September 29, 2026 announcement coverage, stresses lasting run decisions: “Tension and real decisions. Permadeath means every fight you survive raises the stakes, and every blessing you take is a choice you live with for the rest of the run.” He also says he wants the dungeon crawl to focus on mastering combat and adapting to a different build each run, rather than inventory management and bookkeeping.

Death ends the run, not all progress
Death ends the current attempt, but runes and iron persist in Hel’s Hall. The Steam description says those resources can be used with merchants, to craft weapons that change play style, and to allocate ability-boosting runes between runs. This creates a split progression model: the immediate build and route are at risk, while some resources support preparation for another attempt.

Steam currently marks ALLFATHER as “Coming soon” and says it is not yet available. No dated release window appears on the listing, so a specific launch date cannot be confirmed from the store page.

Visual style and content notes
Steam describes the presentation as an old-school RPG aesthetic made with modern technology. Its listing says the models, textures, animation, voice, sound and music were created by human artists.
The store page also flags violent combat, including gore and dismemberment, alongside references to human sacrifice, suicide and injury. Readers sensitive to those themes should check the listing before deciding whether the game is for them.

Who is making it?
Gamezebo’s October 1, 2026 reveal coverage describes McKay as a veteran roguelike developer and identifies his earlier self-published game as Gnomes. It characterizes ALLFATHER as his first release as a solo developer. These are descriptions from that coverage; McKay is the developer and publisher named on Steam.
