The 24:49 figure belongs to an alleged file, not to Rockstar’s video. A Shattered.io report, updated October 9, 2026, says a file called “Extended Leek” appeared on October 8 and has a runtime of 24 minutes 49 seconds. The same report describes Rockstar Games’ official “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look,” dated August 27, 2026, as roughly 27 minutes long. Rockstar’s official page does not state an exact runtime, and the alleged file has not been authenticated, so the comparison is between an unverified claim and an official presentation.
Two different videos, with different levels of evidence
The word “leak” in the headline is reader shorthand for an alleged, unverified upload. The official video and the alleged file should be kept apart, because they differ in publisher, status, date and how well they are documented.

Where the 24:49 number comes from
The figure appears in a single secondary report, Shattered.io’s “GTA 6 Leak Video Runs 24:49 vs Trailer’s 27 Min [2026].” It is that outlet’s reported runtime for the alleged file. It is not an official Rockstar duration, and the available coverage does not explain how the runtime was measured.

The 27-minute figure is also approximate. Rockstar’s page confirms the video and its date but gives no length, so “roughly 27 minutes” is the report’s rounding. If the official presentation is close to 27:00, the alleged file would be about two minutes shorter. That gap cannot be stated precisely until Rockstar publishes an exact runtime, and a shorter file does not by itself show that it is an edit of the official video.

What is established and what is not
- Established by Rockstar: an “Extended Look” dated August 27, 2026, described as captured entirely from in-game PS5 footage.
- Established only as reported: a file named “Extended Leek” surfaced on October 8 with a 24:49 runtime, according to Shattered.io’s October 9 update.
- Not established: that the alleged file is authentic gameplay, who uploaded it, how it reached the outlet, or what its technical metadata shows.
- Not established: that the file is a cut, edit or alternate version of Rockstar’s presentation.
- Not established: that any scene, feature, build or character in the alleged file is confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI content.
As of October 9, the reporting said no outlet had independently verified the footage as authentic gameplay. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive had not confirmed or denied the file on the record. No named person’s on-record statement about the file was documented, so readers should not assume Rockstar has responded.

The page attributes this description to Rockstar Games without naming an individual speaker. Rockstar’s Newswire post for the presentation says it was playing on Netflix and was due to appear on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA VI site. The same post states that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19, 2026, to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. These statements concern the official presentation and the release; they do not address the alleged October 8 file.

Rockstar’s earlier trailers
Rockstar’s official page lists two earlier trailers with runtimes. These are shorter, separate videos, and neither is the Extended Look.
- Trailer 1: 1:31, published 2023
- Trailer 2: 2:47, published 2025
What would change this picture
- An on-record statement from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive confirming or denying the “Extended Leek” file.
- Documented independent verification of where the footage came from and whether it is gameplay.
- An exact runtime for the official Extended Look published by Rockstar, which would replace the rounded 27-minute figure.
- Technical details about the file itself, reported by outlets that have examined it.
Until one of these appears, the accurate headline is that an unverified file has been reported at 24:49, while Rockstar’s official presentation runs roughly 27 minutes by secondary reporting.
