What the RimWorld Together console controls
The RimWorld Together console is an administrative command interface for a multiplayer server. It is separate from ordinary in-game colony controls: commands can change who is allowed to connect, grant or remove operator rights, trigger server events, create saves and stop the process.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Enter commands in the server console or in the administrator command interface provided by your host. Some hosts require a command prefix, while others accept the command name directly. Do not paste the angle brackets shown in examples; they mark a value you must replace. If a command is rejected, run help and use the syntax printed by that server.

The official wiki’s documented workflow for version 25.12.13.1 is especially important for operator changes: use the player’s username exactly as it appeared when they joined, not the player’s UID.

Player moderation and operator permissions
list and deeplist: identify the correct player
Start with list when you only need the connected-player roster. If you need more detail, try deeplist. These commands are not guaranteed to be interchangeable: list is documented by Legion Hosting, while deeplist appears in Shockbyte and BisectHosting documentation. A server may implement one, both or neither under that exact spelling.
Copy the player name exactly, including capitalization and spaces where the console permits them. If the output contains both a display name and an internal identifier, use the form that help or the server’s own output describes.

kick: remove a current connection
Use kick for a player who should leave immediately but is not being permanently blocked. A kick ends the current session; it is not the same action as a ban. Tell the player why you acted before reconnecting them, especially when the issue is a temporary desync or rule violation.
ban and unban: control future access
ban prevents a player from returning according to the server’s ban mechanism. Confirm the identifier before submitting it: banning the wrong name can affect an innocent player, and a renamed account may not match the value you expect. Use unban to reverse that decision. Because argument formats are not exposed in the available official snippet, run help ban and help unban on your build rather than assuming a UID, display name or platform account ID.
op and deop: grant or revoke administration
On version 25.12.13.1, the official workflow says to use the username recorded when the player joined. Do not substitute the UID. A safe sequence is:

- Run
listordeeplistand copy the joining username. - Run
op <username>using the exact value accepted by your console. - Ask the player to reconnect if the server does not apply permissions to an already-open session.
- When access should end, run
deop <username>and verify the result withhelpor the server’s permission output.
Keep operator access limited to people who need it. An operator can potentially moderate players, trigger events, alter saves or stop the server, so treat the command as a security change rather than a convenience toggle.
Messaging and event commands
broadcast and chat
Use broadcast for a message intended for everyone connected to the server. The chat command belongs to the server-chat family, but the documented material does not establish whether a particular build treats it as global, targeted or console-only. Check help broadcast and help chat for quoting, recipient and formatting rules before sending a notice containing spaces or punctuation.
For maintenance announcements, state the UTC time, expected interruption and whether players should save manually. Avoid placing passwords, invite codes or personal information in a global message.

eventlist, event and eventall
Use eventlist first to discover the event names that the running server actually exposes. The command set also includes event and eventall. Their exact arguments and target scope are not shown in the available official command table, so do not infer that a name from another RimWorld build will work here. Test on a backup or an empty maintenance window, and verify the result in the server log before using an event during an active multiplayer session.
Saves, backups and shutdown
forcesave, backup and backupuser
Run forcesave before planned maintenance, permission changes that could affect a session, or any command with a destructive possibility. A save protects the current game state; a backup provides a recovery copy, subject to the host’s storage and retention policy.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
backup is the server-level backup command. backupuser is the player-specific variant documented in the command set. The available documentation does not state whether a user backup contains only that player’s files, a character snapshot or another host-defined record, so inspect the host’s backup location and test restoration before relying on it as your only recovery method.

quit versus forcequit
Use quit for a normal stop: it saves and shuts down the server. The host panel’s Stop button is also preferred for an orderly shutdown when it is available. Reserve forcequit for a process that will not stop normally or an urgent recovery situation. It closes without saving player data, so any progress since the last successful save can be lost.
- Warn connected players with
broadcast. - Run
forcesaveand wait for the save confirmation or log entry. - Create
backupif the maintenance could change files or mods. - Use
quitor the host panel’s Stop control. - Only if the process is unresponsive, use
forcequit, then check the save and backup before restarting.
Whitelist management
whitelist add
Add an approved player with whitelist add <player>, replacing the placeholder with the identifier required by your server. Confirm the exact spelling and whether the build expects a username or another account value. If the player is already connected, a whitelist change may not affect the current session until they reconnect.
whitelist remove
Remove access with whitelist remove <player>. Use the same identifier format used for the add operation. If the player should also be disconnected, handle that separately with kick; changing a whitelist entry and ending an active connection are distinct actions.
Additional host-specific commands
BisectHosting documents four additional commands: resetplayer, resetserver, modlist and getip. Their presence in a hosting guide does not prove that every RimWorld Together server supports them. Run help and check your host’s documentation before use.
resetplayer: potentially clears or reinitializes player data. Confirm exactly what is deleted and make a backup first.resetserver: potentially reinitializes server data. Treat it as destructive, stop active sessions and verify a restorable backup.modlist: displays the installed or active mod list, which is useful when clients report a mismatch.getip: returns a connection address. Restrict this information to administrators and never publish it in chat or screenshots.
Finding the right syntax on your version
The official wiki snippet available for this command set does not expose a complete command table. That makes the in-server help output authoritative for your exact release. Run help after every update, and record the output for your administrators. This is particularly important when a command accepts a username, because the 25.12.13.1 operator workflow differs from UID-based assumptions.
Use this diagnostic order when a command fails:
- Check that you are in the server console or have operator permission.
- Run
helpand confirm the command spelling and required arguments. - Use
listordeeplistto obtain the current identifier instead of typing it from memory. - Retry with simple arguments and no unescaped punctuation.
- Read the server log and host panel output for a permission, version or availability error.
- If the command is listed only by a hosting provider, ask whether that provider has patched or wrapped the standard command set.
Commands to treat with caution
forcequit, resetplayer and resetserver can cause irreversible or difficult-to-recover changes. Always save first, create a backup when possible and announce the action. The command toggledifficulty is not established as reliable here: the Fandom wiki carries an out-of-date notice, and it is not part of the verified command list. Do not use it in production unless your own server’s help output documents it and you have tested the behavior on a disposable save.
Quick Recap
A practical administrator checklist
- Run
helpafter installing or updating the server. - Keep a copy of the current command output and the server version.
- Use
listordeeplistbefore moderation or permission changes. - For operators, use the joining username required by version 25.12.13.1, not a UID.
- Separate a temporary
kickfrom a lastingban. - Save with
forcesavebefore maintenance and stop withquitwhenever possible. - Protect backup files, operator credentials and any output from
getip. - Assume provider-specific commands may be absent on another host.
