- Bow or a character with consistent ranged attacks: several Liyue shrines have distant switches or tight angles.

World progression
There’s no single “quest unlock” that universally applies to every Shrine of Depths, but some interactable objects become practical only after you’ve visited the surrounding areas enough to reach them safely. When you reach the platform with a staged puzzle centerpiece, interact with the objective point, then solve any activation order/signals you see.
Jueyun Karst (valley shrine near layered terrain)
This shrine area is defined by layered hills and clustered rock formations. Move between the terraces until you find the puzzle’s activation point rather than only decorative elements.
Once you spot the interactable mechanism, solve the local puzzle without rushing—Liyue shrines frequently require a correct sequence.
Mt. Tianheng (ridge/approach shrine)
On the ridge approach routes, you’ll see shrine setups tucked into “natural rooms” formed by terrain and stone walls. Glide in, land slightly uphill from where you think the shrine should be, then scan downward.

Interact with the centerpiece object first, then follow the feedback from each activation (what lights up, what unlocks, what changes).
Wangshu Inn area (rooftop/ground approach shrine)
Search around the inn’s surrounding paths for shrine objects that feel “placed” rather than built into scenery. The easiest detection is the staged puzzle point—usually close to a clear walking line.
If you can’t find it instantly, step back and check both sides of the most direct path: Liyue shrine objects sometimes sit just off the main line.
Qingce Village outskirts (forested slope shrine)
On the slopes near Qingce Village, shrine puzzles tend to be tucked into hillside pockets. Use the village waypoint to guide your travel, then look for staged activations rather than decorative lanterns or plants.

When you reach the correct spot, the interact prompt should clearly relate to the shrine’s objective.
Lingju Pass / Linyang-style cliff routes (wind-swept climb shrine)
Along cliff routes with narrow traversal paths, shrines often sit near a safe standing point with room to trigger plates or statues. Don’t solve from a distance—get into the puzzle’s practical interaction radius.
After each activation, check for visible state changes (lights/doors/ground elements) before trying the next step.
Dadaupa Gorge / nearby canyon pathways (canyon shrine)
Canyons in this region often hide shrines slightly above the obvious walking bed. Move up the rock line until the puzzle’s centerpiece appears.
Once active, solve using the shrine’s local logic. If the mechanism doesn’t respond, you may be targeting the wrong interact point nearby.
Fort Fujitou / coastal Liyue cliff edges (coastal shrine)
For coastal cliff-edge shrines, the best technique is to follow the shoreline until you see a “staged” object pattern: a clear platform center with interactable targets.

Don’t assume the shrine is where you can most easily climb first. Sometimes it’s one ledge higher or one path further along.
Chenyu Vale (newer Liyue expansion shrine clusters)
Chenyu Vale contains multiple shrine setups spread across its valleys and stepped terrain. When you arrive in a sub-area, sweep the immediate valley pocket before moving on.

Chenyu Vale (watercourse/terrace shrine)
For shrine puzzles on or near watercourse terraces, prioritize the terracing lines. The shrine object is usually positioned to take advantage of vertical movement and stable footing.
Activate the puzzle point(s) in the order the local feedback indicates; don’t brute-force through repeated interactions.
Fast routes: how to clear them efficiently
To avoid wasting time, plan your trip as “region sweeps.” Liyue’s geography is the enemy: long detours cost more time than the time it takes to solve a shrine.

- Pick one Liyue waypoint closest to your first shrine checklist entry.
- Travel to the shrine by following terrain lines (valleys for lower effort; ridges for direct sight lines).
- Mark the shrine immediately after opening the chest.
- Move to the next nearby checklist item, not the next “closest on the world map.” Use walking routes you can actually traverse quickly.
- Repeat until you’ve completed the full sweep for that region.
When you get “stuck” mid-route
- Stop and identify what’s blocking you: climbing, wrong angle, or puzzle not responding.
- If climbing is the blocker, teleport to the nearest better ridge waypoint and approach from above.
- If puzzle response is the blocker, revisit the objective centerpiece and ensure you’re interacting with the correct mechanism.

- Statue/element alignments: interact targets often need correct elemental or directional behavior.
- Sequence puzzles: the environment gives feedback—lights, sounds, or changes to the puzzle frame.
- Hidden interactables: some “obvious” switches are decoys; the real ones are close to the centerpiece but slightly offset.
If you’re solving and nothing changes after an activation, pause and inspect for the feedback channel you might have missed (visual lights, temporary platform movement, or a new interact prompt).

No interact prompt appears
- Walk closer to the centerpiece and target the exact interact object, not the surrounding scenery.
- Rotate your camera slightly—some prompts are narrow-angle.
- Check whether you already cleared the shrine earlier on that account. Completed shrines often won’t present the same interaction behavior.
The puzzle activates but the chest won’t spawn
- Confirm you completed all local triggers (some shrines require multiple conditions).
- Look for a “final state” object—doors, barriers, or ground lifts—before assuming it’s fully solved.
- Exit and re-enter the immediate area by a few steps (or fast travel to reset your engagement point) and re-check the puzzle centerpiece.
You keep failing the activation order
- Reset carefully: avoid rapid-fire spam activations. Wait for the environment to settle and show feedback.
- Take note of what changes after each attempt (what lights up, what moves, what disappears).
- Use a consistent order approach: start from the most obvious indicator (brightest, closest, or primary statue) and move systematically.
Terrain makes the shrine hard to reach
- Don’t fight the ground. Use vertical approach: climb to a higher ledge, then descend into the shrine area.
- Use gliding arcs to land on stable platforms near puzzle targets.
- If there’s water, check both banks. Some shrines are positioned so the “correct” path is across the channel.
