Hellraiser: Revival uses several puzzle families rather than one universal symbol system. You will solve environmental loops by changing direction, use the Genesis Configuration to reshape routes or match a key, rebuild images, order bells, connect wires, pick locks, and enter location-specific safe codes. Most answers are communicated by objects close to the puzzle—a diagram, photograph, plaque, relief, or piece of machinery—so inspect the room before trying combinations at random.
What kinds of puzzles are in Hellraiser: Revival?
The available developer preview and a location-focused walkthrough describe six practical families. They overlap: a single sequence can require finding an object, placing it in a mechanism, then changing the Genesis Configuration to complete the solution. The categories below are a useful field guide, not an exhaustive glossary of every symbol or puzzle in the game. The preview also says some puzzles can have more than one solution, so a route described here should not be treated as the only possible answer when the game accepts alternatives.

Assistant Game Director Vid Rajin described the design in the PlayStation Blog preview published August 19, 2026: “We use the Genesis Configuration – a puzzle box – at the centre of things.” It is therefore both a puzzle instrument and, in other situations, a combat tool; do not assume every appearance of the box is a stand-alone riddle.
Environmental perspective and route puzzles
These encounters make the room itself the clue. You may see a corridor that appears to repeat, photographs hanging at impossible angles, or a route that changes when you stop treating forward movement as the only option. The intended action is often a change in viewpoint or direction, not a new item.

The looping-house sequence
In an early house sequence described in the official preview, distorted or crooked photographs and repeating rooms signal that walking straight ahead is keeping you inside a loop. Turn around and move back through the space. The reversal changes the setting and breaks the apparent repetition. If you keep pushing toward the same visual landmark, you can miss the clue because the puzzle is testing your interpretation of the room rather than your inventory.
Finding a route around Chatterer
The same preview describes escaping Chatterer by discovering a corridor where the enemy does not teleport in front of Aidan. Treat the creature’s repeated appearances as route information. Watch which passages trigger the teleport and which environmental details remain stable, then test a different corridor instead of repeatedly challenging the blocked path. This is an example of an enemy’s behavior functioning as a navigation clue.
How to recognize this family
- Compare the current room with the room you just left; repeated furniture or photographs can be deliberate markers.
- Look for visual distortion, especially crooked pictures or an arrangement that seems subtly wrong.
- When forward progress repeats, try turning around before searching every container for a key.
- Observe what an enemy does to a route. A teleporting pursuer may identify the unsafe corridor rather than demand a combat solution.
Genesis Configuration traversal puzzles
The Genesis Configuration changes the environment around you. The key question is not simply “What shape should the box show?” but “What does this adjustment do to the room?” Observe the mechanism, activate the box, and then inspect the new geometry before committing to a jump or crossing.

Rotating a wheel over a spike room
The official preview gives a representative traversal puzzle: use the Genesis Configuration to rotate a large wheel. The wheel realigns narrow walkways over a room filled with spikes, creating a safe route. Solve it as a cause-and-effect chain:
- Stand where you can see the wheel and the walkways it controls.
- Use the Genesis Configuration and note which sections move when the wheel rotates.
- Wait for the platforms to settle, then trace a continuous path that avoids the spikes.
- Cross only after confirming that the newly aligned walkways connect; the safe route is the result of the configuration change, not a separate bridge item.
If the path still appears broken, recheck the wheel’s orientation and the platform ends. The preview does not publish a universal sequence of turns, and the developer has indicated that some puzzles permit multiple solutions.

Shape-key gates
Another documented use combines object placement with shape matching. A gate can be missing a statue part, such as a tongue or hand. First locate the missing piece and install it in the statue. Then inspect the relief or receptacle that shows the required outline and rotate the Genesis Configuration until its shape matches. The object and the box are two linked requirements: placing the part alone does not finish the gate, and matching a shape before restoring the statue leaves the mechanism incomplete.
Reading the box as a tool
- Use the visible relief as the reference; do not rely on a memorized symbol list.
- After each adjustment, look at the surrounding mechanism for a physical response.
- Remember that the Genesis Configuration also has combat applications, so an encounter with the box is not automatically a puzzle screen.
Picture, image, and ordering puzzles
These puzzles provide a complete visual reference nearby and ask you to reproduce it. The reliable method is to read the reference first, determine orientation or order, and only then manipulate the lock or objects.

The four-block well puzzle
GameSpew’s October 8, 2026 walkthrough reports a well puzzle with four blocks. Collect all four pieces, then rotate them until they reconstruct the image shown on a nearby sheet of paper. Do not treat each block as an independent symbol: the target is the complete picture. If one edge looks correct but the overall image does not, continue rotating the out-of-place block rather than forcing the partial match.
The picture door lock
The same walkthrough describes a door whose picture lock must be aligned with artwork beside the door. Study the adjacent artwork for the intended composition, then adjust the lock pieces to match its orientation. The nearby image is the clue; there is no evidence of a game-wide picture code that can be reused elsewhere.
The bell sequence
A separate bell puzzle uses a plaque to establish the order. Read the plaque completely before ringing anything, identify the sequence it depicts, and activate the bells in that order. If the puzzle resets after an incorrect ring, return to the plaque rather than guessing a new order from sound or position.

Conventional locks, safes, and combinations
Revival also includes familiar lock-picking mechanisms and combination safes. Their clues are local and concrete: a diagram on a desk, a photograph, or numbers embedded in another object. Safe contents can include crafting resources, ammunition, upgrades, or a weapon, according to the official preview.

The preview’s safe example uses a sliding picture lock with a diagram on a desk. Compare the lock’s movable sections with the diagram and reproduce the shown arrangement. This is a visual lock, not a keypad code; searching the room for numbers will not help unless the diagram itself includes them.
Safe code 1952
GameSpew’s walkthrough reports a photograph that reveals the combination 1952 for a particular safe. Entering that code solves the documented location. It is a guide-reported, location-specific example, not a universal Hellraiser: Revival code for every safe.
Optional cabinet code 1923
The walkthrough also reports an optional cabinet using 1923, inferred from two numbers printed on figures’ jackets. Check the figures and confirm that the numbers belong to the cabinet in your current area before entering them. As with 1952, this combination should not be applied to unrelated locks.
Lock-solving checklist
- Search desks, photographs, plaques, and nearby props before attempting random combinations.
- Keep a note of which clue belongs to which container; numbers are not automatically transferable.
- For a picture lock, reproduce the diagram’s arrangement rather than entering a numeric sequence.
- Expect rewards to vary by safe and location; opening one does not establish what every safe contains.
Wiring and hands-on object mechanisms
Some interactions are practical manipulation tasks rather than ciphers. In the walkthrough’s fuse-box example, connect cables to terminals of the same color. Trace each cable carefully and verify the color at both ends; a visually similar wire is not a substitute for a matching one.

Another example involves a small box. Turn it over, wind the handle on its rear, and retrieve the item from the drawer. The sequence matters because the drawer becomes useful only after the winding interaction. These scenes reward inspecting an object from every side and trying its obvious moving parts.

Use this process whenever a mechanism does not immediately make sense:
- Stop at the puzzle. Look around the entire room, including desks, walls, floor-level objects, and the reverse side of movable items.
- Find the reference. Identify a diagram, photograph, plaque, relief, paper, artwork, or color coding that could describe the answer.
- Classify the task. Decide whether you are changing a route, matching a shape, rebuilding an image, ordering objects, entering a code, connecting wires, or operating a mechanism.
- Separate clue from action. A photograph may supply numbers, while the action is entering them into a safe. A statue relief may supply a shape, while the action is rotating the Genesis Configuration.
- Change one variable at a time. Rotate one block, ring one bell, or move one cable, then observe the result. This makes resets understandable.
- Recheck the environment. A successful adjustment may open a route or alter a platform rather than produce a loud confirmation.
- Allow for alternatives. If the developer permits multiple solutions, compare the room’s response rather than assuming a failed sequence is the only intended path.
Common reasons a puzzle seems unsolvable
You are searching for an item when the clue is the room
Repeating rooms, crooked photographs, and an enemy that keeps appearing ahead indicate a perspective or route puzzle. Turn around, test another corridor, and compare environmental changes before exhausting every drawer.
You found the object but not the second requirement
Shape-key gates require both the missing statue part and a matching Genesis Configuration form. Install the tongue or hand, read the relief, and then set the box to that outline.
You have a partial picture but no complete match
For the well blocks and picture door, use the nearby reference as a whole composition. A correctly oriented corner is not enough if the complete image remains inconsistent.

The code works nowhere
Codes such as 1952 and 1923 belong to the specific safe and cabinet documented by the walkthrough. Confirm that you are at the same location and that the clue came from the nearby photograph or figures. Do not assume a code carries to another container.
The mechanism appears inactive
Inspect the object from another side. The wind-up box requires turning it over and winding the rear handle before its drawer yields an item. Similar interactions may hide their active component on the back or underside.
Demo, full game, platforms, and scope
The Steam demo introduces the Genesis Configuration and basic puzzle solving. Its store listing says more complex puzzle solving is reserved for the full game, so a player who has only tried the demo will not have seen the entire range of mechanisms described above.
GamesRadar’s October 8, 2026 overview reports release on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. Store availability and editions can change, so verify the current listing for your platform. The PlayStation Blog preview gives a developer estimate of an 8–12 hour campaign, depending on difficulty and player skill; that is an estimate, not a measured completion average.
What is and is not established about the symbols
No reviewed source provides a complete catalog of every Genesis Configuration symbol, statue relief, or alternate solution. The dependable approach is contextual: read the relief, diagram, plaque, photograph, or artwork placed near the mechanism and use the room’s physical response to confirm the result. Treat walkthrough codes as solutions for their named locations, not as a master key for the game.
In practice, Hellraiser: Revival’s puzzles are unified less by a single alphabet than by a consistent rule: the answer is usually visible nearby, but it may be expressed as a route, a shape, an image, an order, a color match, or a number. Once you identify which form of information the room is presenting, the interaction becomes much more direct.
