Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood
Beebom recommends the Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood area as a dense drop region. The guide also warns it may be contested, so landing there trades a chance to search several nearby reported areas for a higher likelihood of early opposition. Choose a route, not just a pin
Before jumping, consider how far the area is from your Battle Bus path, how exposed the approach is, and whether another reported area is close enough to serve as a fallback. The counts describe grouped areas, not a guaranteed route or match-specific chest placement.
Why a reported chest location may be empty
A possible location does not guarantee a chest in every match. Playnews cautions that locations may be empty from one match to another and advises having another spot in mind. Its shorter list names Lifty Lodge, Freaky Fields, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzaria, Nightmare Neighborhood and Shaken Sanctuary, but it explicitly says its list is not exhaustive; it does not independently verify Beebom’s reported total. How to open a Pumpkin Chest
- Go to one of the reported areas and look for a Pumpkin Chest. If none appears, move to your backup location rather than waiting on a guaranteed spawn.
- Approach the chest and hold your Interact input for a few seconds. Beebom lists F for keyboard and Square or X for controller; your platform and custom bindings may differ.
- Collect the items after it opens. Beebom says a chest grants a weapon and a random Sprite.
What Pumpkin Chests do in Fortnitemares 2026
Epic describes Pumpkin Chests as a way to find Sprites scattered across the island. Its official October 1 Fortnitemares announcement establishes the event context and identifies Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood as Battle Royale points of interest, but does not enumerate Pumpkin Chest locations. Epic’s Communities post names Spooky Dash, Vampire, Deer, Dumpster Dive, Honey and Obsession Sprites; it marks Honey and Obsession for October 15. That post explains the Sprite mechanic and event arrivals, not chest coordinates.
Quest and reward details
Beebom reports that smashing a Pumpkin Chest completes a Fortnitemares quest and awards 15,000 XP, and that completing Fortnitemares quests contributes toward a Jack-A-Nape skin. These are time-sensitive, secondary-source quest details, not a promise that the same reward or requirement remains active in every update. Check the live in-game quest panel before relying on them.
