What is happening when Alexa repeats “la la la”?
Users have reported Alexa repeating “la” or “lalalalala,” in some accounts for several minutes. Android Authority reported on October 5, 2026, that people had been sharing reports over the preceding month. These are user reports, not an independently verified count of affected devices.

In an update to its October 5 report, Android Authority said Amazon confirmed the behavior was a bug affecting “a small number of Alexa Plus” users and was implementing a fix. The outlet did not provide a technical explanation or a timetable. Android Authority’s report and update are the available account of Amazon’s confirmation; they are not an official Amazon incident notice.
What is known—and what is not
- Reported scope: a small number of Alexa Plus users, according to Amazon as reported by Android Authority. The report does not specify a device list, geography, or numerical count; it does not show that every Echo or Alexa service is affected.
- Cause: not disclosed. Some users speculated that an update was involved, but the available reporting does not establish that.
- Fix: Amazon was reported to be implementing one, but no release date or rollout details were given.
- Hardware failure: the incident was described as a software bug, not evidence that a speaker is physically broken.
Amazon’s developer documentation lists “la la la” as an expressive phrase that a skill can pronounce. That establishes that the phrase can exist in Alexa’s speech system; it does not explain or link the documentation to this bug. Amazon’s Spanish speechcon reference is context, not a diagnosis.

What to try while Amazon works on a fix

- Restart the Echo: unplug it, wait briefly, then reconnect it. This may help with a temporary device problem, but has not been shown to resolve the reported Alexa Plus bug.

- Check Wi-Fi: confirm the Echo is connected and the network is working normally.
- Consider a reset only if other steps fail: a reset is a general troubleshooting measure, not an incident-specific remedy. Avoid starting with a factory reset when a software fix is reportedly being implemented.
If the behavior persists, note when it happens and which Echo and Alexa service you use, then contact Amazon support for device-specific guidance. The available report does not identify which devices are affected, so it cannot confirm whether a particular model is in scope.

Should you replace the Echo or buy anything?
No evidence in the reports links a replacement speaker, accessory, router, or repair tool to resolving this behavior. Because Amazon’s reported explanation is a software bug, buying hardware is not a supported remedy. A restart or app check is reasonable general troubleshooting, but neither is a verified fix for this specific issue.
