No: Airtel postpaid does not provide universally free international roaming. Its terms let customers activate International Roaming (IR) without buying a pack, but overseas usage is charged at standard rates. A ₹698 daily pack may activate automatically after qualifying charges cross that amount in a covered country; it is a charge-protection mechanism, not free roaming. The ₹1,749 postpaid plan’s advertised ₹3,000 annual discount is limited to purchases of specified 10- or 30-day IR packs.
Does Airtel postpaid include free international roaming?
No—not as an unrestricted benefit. Airtel’s terms say IR is disabled by default. Postpaid customers can enable it without buying a pack through the Airtel Thanks app or call centre, but usage is charged at standard rates and appears on the monthly bill. Airtel’s description of postpaid plans as including roaming calls does not make overseas IR usage free; the IR terms treat international usage separately. What does the ₹1,749 postpaid offer provide?
Airtel’s postpaid terms state that customers activating the ₹1,749 plan can receive a ₹3,000 bill discount once per year when they purchase an International Roaming pack with 10- or 30-day validity. The discount does not apply to packs with other validity periods. It is a limited discount toward eligible pack purchases, not a waiver of all international roaming charges. Check the current offer and eligibility in Airtel’s postpaid terms before relying on it.

How Airtel’s automatic ₹698 daily pack works
For qualifying postpaid usage with IR active in a covered country, Airtel says standard rates apply first. If that day’s charges exceed ₹698, the automatic one-day pack applies for the remainder of the local day, through 11:59 p.m. It is not customer-activated and does not erase charges incurred before the threshold was crossed. Airtel says the threshold and terms may change.

If the pack’s included benefits run out before the day ends, Airtel says data speed is reduced to 80 kbps and further calls or SMS are charged at discounted rates. The resulting charges appear on a later bill; they are not waived. Customers can disable IR service. See the current IR terms for conditions and coverage.
Check eligibility before travelling
Airtel’s terms say IR service for plans activated with a security deposit becomes available four months after the plan starts. The terms also list plan-specific deposits, so check your own activation and deposit status rather than assuming service will work on arrival. Confirm IR activation, destination coverage, eligible packs and current rates with Airtel before departure.
