Airtel Money Valued at $7 Billion Ahead of Planned London IPO

Airtel Money announced an offer price of £1.96 per share on 1 October 2026, implying a market capitalisation of £5.3 billion (about US$7.0 billion) at its planned London admission. The listing had not yet taken place as of 3 October: the company expected admission on 14 October 2026. The offer was structured as a sale of existing shares, so the implied valuation is not money being raised for Airtel Money itself.

How much is Airtel Money worth?

At the announced offer price of £1.96 a share, Airtel Money said its market capitalisation at admission would be £5.3 billion, approximately US$7.0 billion. That is an implied equity value based on the offer price and the expected admission, not a confirmed market value after shares begin trading. The figure was announced by Airtel Money on 1 October 2026 in its offer-price announcement.

The transaction was announced as a secondary offer: shares held by existing shareholders were to be sold, rather than new shares issued to raise capital for the company. Airtel Africa said it owned 77.85% of Airtel Money and expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder. The planned sale comprised 270 million existing shares, with up to 27 million additional shares available through an over-allotment option. Airtel Africa was not expected to sell shares outside that option. The International Finance Corporation had committed, subject to customary conditions, to buy up to £67.2 million (about US$90 million) of shares from existing shareholders at the offer price; this too was part of the existing-share sale, not a new investment into Airtel Money.

What was the Airtel Money IPO price and offer structure?

The announced offer price was £1.96 per share. The company intended to seek admission to the FCA Official List’s equity shares (commercial companies) category and trading on the London Stock Exchange Main Market. Current indications at announcement implied public hands of approximately 16.5%, or approximately 17.5% if the over-allotment option were exercised in full. Airtel Money said it expected the resulting free float to make it eligible for FTSE UK indices; eligibility is not the same as being included in an index.

The offer-price announcement was labelled an advertisement, not a prospectus. It directed prospective investors to the FCA-approved prospectus and its risk factors and cautioned that the announcement should not be the basis for an investment decision. The announcement said the prospectus was expected later on 1 October; the terms and figures below do not establish whether there were subsequent changes.

When was Airtel Money expected to list in London?

At the 3 October 2026 status point, the dates were planned rather than completed milestones. Airtel Money’s 1 October announcement expected conditional trading to commence by 9 October and unconditional dealings to begin at 08:00 London time on 14 October 2026. Check the issuer’s announcements for any changes before relying on that timetable.

Who could apply through the retail offer?

The announced UK retail offer was for people resident and physically present in the United Kingdom, using participating platforms, retail brokers, or wealth managers in RetailBook’s partner network. The stated minimum application was £250, and the deadline was 8 October 2026; the institutional indication deadline was also 8 October. This did not mean every UK platform participated, and the described retail channel was not an offer to residents of other countries.

The operating and financial figures below were reported by Airtel Money in its 23 September 2026 intention-to-float announcement. They provide context for the business but do not, by themselves, establish whether the offer price is attractive or expensive.

Measure Company-reported figure and period
Monthly active users Approximately 53 million as of 30 June 2026
Customer base growth 20% CAGR from the year ended 31 March 2018 to the twelve months ended 30 June 2026
Total processed value US$213 billion for the twelve months ended 30 June 2026; 33% CAGR in US-dollar terms from the year ended 31 March 2018
Revenue US$1.346 billion for the year ended 31 March 2026; 32% CAGR from the year ended 31 March 2018 to the twelve months ended 30 June 2026
EBITDA 40% CAGR over the same stated comparison period; approximately 50% EBITDA margin for the year ended 31 March 2026
Pre-tax cash conversion Above 90% in each of the last three financial years, according to the company

These measures have different reporting periods: for example, revenue and the margin refer to the financial year ended 31 March 2026, while processed value covers the twelve months ended 30 June 2026. They should not be treated as a single-period snapshot or as an independent valuation analysis.
