Which Airtel broadband plan is best?
Best for the lowest monthly rental: ₹499
The ₹499 tier is the entry point and advertises up to 40 Mbps with unlimited data and voice. That is generally adequate for web use, remote meetings, multiple phones and routine HD streaming. Airtel’s dedicated plan description states that this plan includes unlimited data at up to 40 Mbps. Choose it when keeping the recurring bill low matters more than bundled subscriptions or higher headroom for a busy household.
Best 40 Mbps entertainment option: ₹699
The ₹699 plan keeps the advertised speed at 40 Mbps but adds a TV-channel allowance and the entertainment services displayed by Airtel, including JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium and Airtel Xstream. The extra rental therefore buys content rather than a faster connection. It makes sense only if your household will use those benefits; otherwise the ₹499 plan has the same headline speed.

Best speed upgrade: ₹799
At ₹799 + GST, Airtel moves to up to 100 Mbps while retaining unlimited data and voice. This is the straightforward choice for several simultaneous users, frequent large downloads, higher-resolution streaming or a home office where the 40 Mbps tier feels constrained. It does not carry the same TV/OTT positioning shown on the ₹699 and ₹899 cards.
Best 100 Mbps entertainment balance: ₹899
The ₹899 tier combines the 100 Mbps headline speed with the TV-channel and OTT bundle shown on Airtel location pages. Compare its actual local benefits with the national card before ordering, because channel and service eligibility can vary by address.

Best displayed premium bundle: ₹999
The ₹999 plan remains a 100 Mbps option but displays the broadest current entertainment positioning, including Netflix Basic, Google One, Apple TV and JioHotstar Super. It is the most defensible pick for a household that values included subscriptions and does not need more than the listed 100 Mbps speed. The value depends on whether you would otherwise pay for those services separately.

Is Airtel ₹499 really unlimited?
“Unlimited” is Airtel’s advertised data term for the listed broadband cards, including ₹499. It does not mean every practical condition is identical everywhere: benefits, final billing and availability are confirmed during the address-based purchase flow. Treat the speed as an advertised maximum or offered figure, not a promise that every device will measure exactly 40 Mbps at every moment.

What speed do you get on Airtel Fiber?
Airtel’s published 2025 quality-of-service material identifies 40 Mbps as the offered tariff speed for the ₹499 plan and 100 Mbps for the ₹799 plan. Those are operator-reported offered or measurement fields. Actual throughput can be lower over Wi-Fi because of distance, walls, interference, device limits and network congestion; a wired test to a suitable server is a better check of the access line.

Router and installation are conditional
Airtel’s ₹499 information says free router and installation apply on six- and 12-month plans. The ₹799 purchase flow similarly ties those benefits to qualifying advance-rental terms. They should not be described as universally free on monthly billing. Read the exact offer, rental period and any one-time charges presented for your pincode before confirming.
How to check availability and order
- Open Airtel’s broadband plan selector and choose the plan card you want to inspect.
- Enter the installation address and pincode. Airtel uses this step to show the local lineup, benefits and serviceability.
- Review the rental with GST, speed, data/voice wording, TV or OTT inclusions, advance-rental requirement and any router or installation charge.
- Submit the requested contact details. The dedicated ₹499 and ₹799 flows require an Airtel callback to complete the connection.
- Keep the confirmation showing the selected plan and included benefits; local pages can differ from the national headline widget.
TRAI’s tariff portal also requires a state or service-area selection, so a tariff found without the correct service area may not represent your address.

How the OTT bundles differ
Do not assume that every service visible on Airtel Xstream is included with every broadband tier. Airtel separately advertises Xstream Premium at ₹279 per month for 24 OTT services and ₹99 per month for 18 services. Eligibility requires an active Airtel prepaid, postpaid, DTH or broadband connection. Compare the specific services named on your broadband checkout page with subscriptions you already pay for; an included app you never use has no practical value.
Wi-Fi coverage and replacement equipment
The fibre plan’s access speed is not the same as whole-home Wi-Fi coverage. Airtel’s network material describes Nokia FastMile 5G fixed-wireless outdoor gateways and Wi-Fi 6 access points for locations where fibre deployment is difficult. If you add a Wi-Fi 6 router or mesh system, first verify bridge mode, authentication requirements, Airtel’s support policy and the equipment warranty. Replacing or bypassing supplied hardware can affect troubleshooting and may not be supported on every connection.
