Does Pro 3’s noise cancellation matter in everyday listening?
Apple says Pro 3 removes up to twice as much unwanted noise as Pro 2, attributing the change to a revised acoustic seal, ultra-low-noise microphones and redesigned acoustic architecture. That is Apple’s product claim, not a published independent head-to-head measurement, and it does not guarantee that every listener will perceive twice the quiet on a commute or in a noisy room.

Apple also describes Pro 3 as having deeper bass, a wider soundstage and clearer vocals. Treat those as manufacturer descriptions rather than independently measured results. If ANC is your main reason to upgrade, compare the two in the environments where you actually listen and pay attention to fit: the ear-tip seal is part of how noise isolation works.

Pro 3’s tips are rotated inward and include a foam-infused microsphere layer, with an additional XXS size in its five-size set. That gives people who struggle to get a stable seal another size to try. It does not establish that Pro 3 fits everyone better: ear shape and comfort are individual, and a secure but comfortable seal matters more than the model’s design description.

Try the available tips on each model and check whether they remain comfortable over a normal listening session. A poor seal can undermine both fit and the listening experience, so do not choose on specifications alone.
Which AirPods Pro has better battery life?
It depends on whether you mean time between charges or total time with the case. Apple estimates up to 8 hours of listening with ANC on from Pro 3 earbuds, compared with up to 6 hours from Pro 2. Pro 3’s estimates fall to up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking enabled, and up to 6.5 hours when workout heart-rate sensing is active.

For total listening with the case, Apple lists up to 24 hours for Pro 3 and up to 30 hours for Pro 2. So Pro 3’s longer single-charge estimate does not mean it lasts longer across a case-assisted day or trip. These are Apple’s estimates under controlled conditions, not independent battery tests; actual results vary with settings, environment and use.

Do workout tracking and resistance justify Pro 3?
Heart-rate sensing
Pro 3 adds heart-rate sensing during workouts. Apple says it works with the Fitness app and compatible third-party apps on an iPhone running iOS 26 or later. If you already track workouts this way, it may be useful to have the sensor in your earbuds; if not, it may not change your daily listening.

Dust, sweat and water resistance
Apple lists Pro 3 at IP57 and Pro 2 at IP54 under IEC 60529. These are resistance ratings, not a promise that either model is waterproof. Apple cautions that resistance can decrease through normal wear, so treat them as a specification for dust, sweat and water resistance rather than permission to expose earbuds to water without care.

Apple lists Hearing Test and Hearing Aid support for AirPods Pro 2 and later, including Pro 3, when used with compatible hardware and software. Availability is subject to age, language and regional qualifications. Apple describes Hearing Aid as intended for people with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.

Pro 3 adds automatic Conversation Boost while Hearing Aid is in use and, according to Apple, provides 67% more battery life in Transparency while using Hearing Aid. Those improvements matter most to people who can use the feature under Apple’s compatibility and availability conditions.
Apple’s March 2025 AirPods Pro 2 hearing-protection data sheet gives a passive Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 10 decibels when the earbuds are used as directed. That passive rating applies when the earbuds have no battery charge or when Off noise control is selected; it does not describe ANC performance and does not apply in Transparency, Adaptive Audio or Noise Cancellation mode. What about controls, charging and non-Apple devices?
Pro 3 supports stem swipes for volume and can act as a camera remote, according to Apple. Its case supports MagSafe, Apple Watch, Qi-certified and USB-C charging, and includes a speaker for Find My. Apple says the USB-C charge cable is sold separately.
Both models can work as Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, but Apple warns that functionality may be limited. Basic playback is different from access to the full Apple feature set: features such as workout integration and hearing tools depend on compatible Apple hardware, software and, in some cases, regional availability.
Is AirPods Pro 3 worth upgrading from AirPods Pro 2?
Choose Pro 3 if one or more of its additions solve a real need: workout heart-rate sensing, the extra-small tip and revised fit design, the IP57 rating, Hearing Aid improvements, or a longer Apple-estimated ANC listening time between charges. Apple’s US product page listed Pro 3 at $249 when checked on October 7, 2026; that is a US manufacturer list price, not a live retailer price or a price established for other regions. Pro 2 is still a reasonable choice if it fits well, covers your everyday listening needs and costs meaningfully less where you shop. Its Apple-listed case-total estimate is higher, and it supports Hearing Test and Hearing Aid under the stated compatibility conditions. Before deciding, compare local prices and your own priorities rather than treating a feature list as a universal upgrade verdict.
