They were being prepared for shipment from Toulouse, France, ahead of an upcoming launch in the United States—but Airbus’s announcement does not confirm that they had left Toulouse or reached orbit.
What happened to the first new OneWeb satellites?
Airbus Defence and Space announced that it had delivered the first batch of 32 latest-generation OneWeb satellites to Eutelsat. The spacecraft were at Airbus’s constellation production facility in Toulouse and being prepared for shipment. The company described a US launch as upcoming, without giving a departure date, launch provider or launch date. Airbus’s announcement therefore confirms delivery to Eutelsat, not a completed shipment from Toulouse or a launch.
How the 32 satellites fit into OneWeb’s renewal plans
Airbus describes the 32 as the first wave of a planned 669-satellite next-generation OneWeb fleet. The company says the new spacecraft are intended to progressively replace satellites nearing the end of their operational lives and help maintain service while enhancing network capability. Those are stated program goals; the announcement does not report independently measured performance results. Airbus’s release
What comes next—and which launches are separate
The planned launches should not be treated as one schedule. The upcoming US launch mentioned for the 32-satellite batch has no named provider or date in Airbus’s announcement. Separately, Eutelsat announced two dedicated OneWeb missions with Arianespace, scheduled for 2027 and 2028 on Ariane 64 rockets from French Guiana. Eutelsat did not say that the first 32 satellites would fly on either mission. Airbus · Eutelsat’s Arianespace announcement
