To improve Essence Extraction in Aion 2, gather repeatedly and invest the skill points you earn: NCSOFT says higher extraction skill raises both speed and success rate. The available guides do not give verified percentage odds by level, so there is no reliable numeric success-rate table or proven best point-by-point build. For the Professional specialty, reach Essence Extraction level 50 and complete the faction quest, which requires one Splendent Ruby.
How Essence Extraction attempts work
Essence Extraction is Aion 2’s gathering system. Gathering becomes available at character level 45, according to NCSOFT’s official Taiwan guide, updated March 30, 2026. Character level 45 is the access requirement; it is separate from the extraction skill level needed for specialty promotion.

When you interact with a node, watch its success and failure gauges. The attempt succeeds if the success gauge reaches 100% first; it fails if the failure gauge reaches 100% first. Node durability falls with every attempt, including a failed one, and the node disappears when its durability is exhausted. The remaining durability determines how many attempts are possible, so there is no fixed universal attempt count.

Gather to raise your extraction level
Repeated extraction raises your Essence Extraction level and awards dedicated skill points. NCSOFT says higher extraction skill improves gathering speed and success rate; acquired gathering skills are passive. Keep extracting available nodes to progress, rather than expecting character levels alone to improve the gathering skill.

Invest skill points with your goal in mind
The skill system includes common extraction skills, a reset for allocated points, and specialist skills focused on resource categories. A recent VGC guide dated October 5, 2026 names Proficient Handling, Delicate Touch, and Lady Luck among common skills, and recommends taking the first skill for each node type to show nearby nodes on the minimap. Treat these as guide recommendations, not measured guarantees: the available sources do not quantify each skill’s success-rate effect or validate an optimal build.
If your immediate aim is to build skill, gather common nodes you can reach and use. VGC suggests areas with several useful node types, citing Orichalcum, Raydam, Azpha, and Odyle as examples. Node availability and map conditions can change, so check the current client and service region rather than treating those examples as a guaranteed route.

Professional specialty: requirements and faction quest
At Essence Extraction level 50, you can take the promotion quest for the specialist stage. The Global quest records require mastery 50, completion of the specialty test, and one Splendent Ruby. The listed NPC and Ruby areas differ by faction:

- Raise Essence Extraction to level 50 and check the promotion quest in your quest UI.
- Speak with your faction’s listed NPC and follow the specialty test objective.
- Gather one Splendent Ruby from a listed area, then return to the quest NPC to complete the objective.
The quest records are for Aion 2 Global version 1.0.21.0 and were updated September 30, 2026. A listed area does not guarantee a node will be available when you arrive; check in-game if the quest display or location differs.

Which should you focus on: skill progression or the Ruby?
For steady skill progression, continue gathering nodes that are accessible and useful to your intended specialization. For Professional promotion, prioritize the faction quest and its Splendent Ruby objective once you meet the extraction-level requirement. The cited sources do not establish a best farming route or show that one route gives better success odds; choose based on your current map access, quest progress, and the node categories supported by your skill investment.
