- Your subject spans several academic areas and you want one environment for math, humanities, coding, and social studies.
- Your assignment can be mapped to a public Khan Academy lesson or exercise.
- You prefer a tutor that asks questions and gives hints instead of immediately displaying a final answer.

Where it will not match your course
A fixed library is also the main limitation. If your professor uses a custom proof format, a local history reading, a proprietary lab manual, or terminology that does not appear in Khan Academy’s materials, Khanmigo may not have the exact context. These are access conditions for the stated learner offering, so a student outside the United States or without a U.S. billing address should check availability before planning around it.
Privacy and supervision considerations
Khan Academy’s community guidance tells learners to use Khanmigo for learning rather than for completing assignments, avoid sharing private photos or personal details, and says images are not stored. Its safety information adds an important family and school consideration: children’s chat history and activities can be visible to connected parents or guardians and, where applicable, teachers or school administrators.

The same safety guidance warns that the AI can occasionally provide incorrect information and should not replace teacher instruction or parental guidance. Verify calculations, quotations, code, and interpretations against your course materials. If a response conflicts with your instructor’s method, treat that conflict as a signal to ask for clarification rather than silently submitting the generated work.

Before using it on a restricted assignment, check your school’s policy and remove names, student IDs, grades, private messages, and other unrelated information from the visible screen. Crop or rearrange the window when possible so the screenshot contains only the question you need help with.

When a live human tutor is the safer no-upload choice
