No single AI tablet is the best choice in India for every buyer as of early October 2026. The two strongest options are Samsung’s newly announced Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+, which Samsung says will be available in India starting October 7, 2026, and iPads that meet Apple’s Apple Intelligence hardware rule for iPadOS 27. Which one fits depends on whether you want Samsung’s Galaxy AI with an S Pen, Apple’s ecosystem, or a non-Samsung Android tablet, and on checking the exact model before you pay.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+: the newest Galaxy AI tablets
Samsung’s India announcement for the Galaxy Tab S12 series, published October 1, 2026, covers two premium models, the Tab S12 Ultra and the Tab S12+. Samsung says both will be available in India from October 7, 2026. That date is still ahead at the time of writing, so treat the pair as announced and launching shortly rather than already on shelves. Check a live listing before you rely on the date.

Samsung’s product messaging for the series makes three specific claims:

- Both models include the latest Galaxy AI, which Samsung positions as the core of the productivity pitch.
- Both come with an S Pen in the box. Samsung describes it as ergonomically designed for note-taking and precise editing.
- Both use Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with peak brightness up to 1600 nits. This is Samsung’s own specification, not an independent measurement.
Samsung also announced bundled purchase offers for the series. Their terms, duration and stock levels are not established in the material this article draws on, so read the offer conditions on the day you buy.

The page also highlights Samsung DeX for desktop-style multitasking, Gemini Live and Drawing Assist.
Gemini Live has conditions. Samsung’s page says it needs an internet connection and a Google Account login. Individual AI features may also have their own regional conditions, so check the footnotes on the product page before you assume a feature will work in your region or language.

“Apple Intelligence in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27 is available on iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad mini (A17 Pro), iPad models with M1 or later, MacBook Neo (A18 Pro), Mac models with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3 when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone nearby.”
For iPads, that means two qualifying groups:
- iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip. An older iPad mini with a different chip does not meet this rule.
- iPad models with an M1 chip or later. Apple’s India storefront lists the current iPad families, so check the chip on the exact model you are considering.
Apple’s India storefront also lists Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard support by model, so a pen or keyboard that works on one iPad may not fit another.

Android tablets beyond Samsung
Google’s India Android tablet page promotes Circle to Search and productivity features such as split-screen use and drag-and-drop between compatible apps. These are not the same as Galaxy AI or Apple Intelligence, and support depends on the device and software version. The page’s price display conflicts with manufacturer listings, so do not use it as a price source.

- Buy the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra or S12+ if you want Galaxy AI with an S Pen included and can wait until October 7 or later.
- Buy the Galaxy Tab S11 if you want Galaxy AI now and the S12’s newer specifications do not justify the difference for you.
- Buy an iPad if you already use an iPhone, Mac or other Apple accessories and the model you find has the A17 Pro chip or an M1 chip or later.
- Buy a non-Samsung Android tablet if you care most about multitasking and Circle to Search rather than Galaxy AI.
Waiting for the S12 only makes sense if you need a pen-first Samsung tablet and can wait a few days. There is no evidence in the material used here of a further Samsung launch that would change the picture.
Checks before you buy
- Confirm the exact model number. For Samsung, check the Ultra or the + variant. For Apple, check whether the iPad has an A17 Pro chip or an M1 chip or later.
- Check the operating system version and language. Apple Intelligence on iPadOS 27 and Galaxy AI features depend on software and region.
- If you plan to use Gemini Live, make sure you have an internet connection and a Google Account to sign in with.
- Compare storage and connectivity. Choose Wi-Fi or cellular models based on how you will use the tablet away from a network.
- Verify the live India price, stock and offer terms on the seller’s page. Storefront and aggregator prices are snapshots and are not directly comparable across models and configurations.
- Confirm whether any pen or keyboard you need fits the exact model. Samsung includes the S Pen with the S12 series, so you do not need to buy one separately for that series.
Samsung’s Galaxy AI features and Apple Intelligence are both documented, and both depend on model and configuration. Confirm the exact model, chip, software version and live India listing before you buy.
