The Tech Edvocate attributes it to Brainlabs client tests but provides no study design or underlying data. For a brand, the useful takeaway is not to chase that percentage; it is to define what “AI visibility” means and measure it consistently.
What does the 140% claim say?
The Tech Edvocate article, “Boost AI Search Visibility 140%: The Metric Your Brand Needs”, published July 25, 2026, says an embedding-focused optimization strategy increased AI citations by an average of 140% in tests involving Brainlabs clients. The article’s retrieved text does not identify a report or provide the sample size, test period, platforms, baseline, control group, or calculation method. No primary Brainlabs study was located to verify the number.

That leaves the figure as an attributed claim from a secondary article, not an independently confirmed statistic. Without the missing details, readers cannot assess whether the result is reproducible, what counted as a citation, or whether the optimization caused the increase. It should not be treated as an industry average, a guaranteed outcome, or a forecast for a particular brand.

What does “AI search visibility” measure?
The article uses “AI citations” for cases where an AI-generated answer uses or references brand content, while noting that this may not result in a direct link or site visit. It does not establish a standardized visibility metric. In practice, several distinct outcomes can be tracked:
#1 Best Overall
- Brand mentions: whether the brand is named in an AI answer.
- Linked citations: whether the answer includes a link to the brand’s content.
- Answer inclusion: whether the brand’s material appears to inform an answer, even without a name or link.
- Impressions and referral traffic: exposure and visits attributable to AI-answer surfaces, where the platform provides a way to observe them.
These measures are not interchangeable. A mention may not contain a link, a citation does not establish that someone visited the site, and a change in traffic does not by itself show how often a brand appeared in AI answers. The 140% claim does not specify which of these outcomes it counts.
How can I measure my brand’s AI search visibility?
Set the measurement rules before comparing results. A percentage change is meaningful only when the outcome, sample, and comparison period remain clear.
Rank #2
- Choose the outcome. Decide whether you are counting brand mentions, linked citations, answer inclusion, or a separate traffic measure. Do not combine them into one “visibility” total.
- Record platforms and prompts. Name the AI platforms and preserve a fixed set of queries or prompts that represent the questions your audience asks. Keep wording consistent between observations.
- Define what counts. Write down how you will classify a mention, a citation, and an answer that uses relevant content without naming or linking the brand. Apply the same rules throughout.
- Set dates and a baseline. Record when observations are made and establish a starting period before changing content. Repeat the same observations later; note any changes to platforms, prompts, or counting rules.
- Report the result with its denominator. Include counts as well as any percentage change, along with the number of prompts and observations. State the platform, dates, and metric so readers can interpret or reproduce the comparison.
- Track traffic separately. If you can identify visits from AI answer surfaces, report them as referral traffic rather than treating them as equivalent to mentions or citations.
This plan does not make results from different platforms directly comparable. It makes your own before-and-after comparison easier to interpret and less likely to conflate visibility with visits.
What strategies does the article recommend?
The Tech Edvocate article recommends anticipating related subquestions, giving clear and comprehensive answers, using precise terminology and structured data, and refreshing important pages. These are recommendations in the article; it does not show that any one tactic produced the reported increase or quantify its individual effect.

Cover the questions surrounding a topic
Map the follow-up questions a reader is likely to have and answer them directly on relevant pages. This makes the page’s scope and useful information easier to identify without relying on a headline alone.
Make answers clear and precise
Use specific terms consistently, explain unfamiliar language, and put the answer near the question it addresses. Avoid vague claims that leave the subject, conditions, or intended reader unclear.
Use structured data where it fits
Apply structured data that accurately describes the page and its contents. The article recommends it, but does not specify a schema type or establish that structured data alone increases citations.
Maintain important pages
Review high-value pages for outdated details and revise them when the underlying information changes. Keep the page’s answers aligned with its current subject rather than refreshing it merely to create a new date.

What can the 140% number tell a brand?
It can point to a question worth testing—whether content changes coincide with more appearances in AI-generated answers—but the published details do not establish a reliable expected gain. A brand that uses the number as a target should first define its own citation or mention metric, set a baseline, and preserve its platform and prompt sample. Any resulting figure should be presented as that brand’s measured result under those stated conditions, not as confirmation of the article’s claim.
