AI, Open Finance and Fraud: What to Expect at Mortgage Innovation & Technology Live 2026

Mortgage Innovation & Technology Live 2026 is scheduled for Tuesday 13 October at etc.venues County Hall in London. AI, open finance and fraud are among the themes reported for the conference, but Mortgage Strategy’s official event FAQ says the full agenda and speaker details are still to come. Those topics should therefore be treated as reported priorities, not confirmed sessions.

What is Mortgage Innovation & Technology Live?

Mortgage Strategy describes MIT Live as a conference for mortgage and protection business leaders, including brokers, lenders, networks, technology providers and industry innovators. Its focus is practical: how firms can manage business change, compliance, technology adoption and growth. It is an industry event, not a consumer mortgage product launch. Mortgage Strategy’s official event overview advertises more than 150 delegates, 30 speakers, 12 advisory board members, nine sessions and five CPD hours. Those are organiser-published event figures, not measures of technology adoption across the mortgage market.

When and where is MIT Live 2026?

The event is scheduled for Tuesday 13 October 2026, from 9:30am to 5:00pm, at etc.venues County Hall, Belvedere Road, London SE1 7GP. The organiser says delegate passes are free for people who meet its criteria; places are limited and subject to approval. People outside those criteria may be able to buy a networking pass by contacting the organiser. Check the official event page for current registration terms.

What is on the MIT Live 2026 agenda?

The official FAQ says the detailed agenda and speaker information will be announced in due course. A separate article hosted on bekun.shop and presented as Mortgage Strategy coverage reports that the programme is expected to address practical AI applications and safeguards, agentic AI in financial advice and operations, open finance and data sharing, smart data and affordability, digital tools for protection and underwriting, and AI’s role in identifying mortgage fraud and deepfakes. Because that report is hosted on an unrelated domain and a confirmed official programme is not yet available, these are reported themes—not verified session titles, speakers or commitments. The official FAQ is the source to check for confirmation.

Why are AI, open finance and fraud being discussed together?

Taken together, the reported themes point to three connected questions for mortgage businesses: how to use technology in workflows, how to make relevant financial data available across a customer journey, and how to detect or manage attempts to misuse digital processes. That is a useful way to interpret the reported agenda, not a claim that any particular tool or outcome has been confirmed.

AI in advice and operations

The reported focus includes practical uses of AI, agentic systems that may carry out multi-step tasks, and safeguards. For advisers and lenders, the important questions are where a system supports a human decision, what it is permitted to do independently, and how its output is checked. Mortgage Strategy’s 11 August 2026 report says Mortgage Lab was named the conference’s official AI Knowledge Partner, with a role described as testing tools against mortgage use cases and explaining risks as well as opportunities. That partnership announcement does not establish that any specific tool has been independently tested or validated.

Mortgage Strategy Commercial Director James Prosser said: “AI is one of the biggest subjects facing mortgage businesses but the industry needs more than predictions and rhetoric. It needs somewhere people can ask difficult questions, see tools tested properly and understand the risks as well as the opportunities.” The report announcing Mortgage Lab’s role attributes the statement to Prosser.

Open finance and smart data

The reported themes include sharing data across the connected mortgage journey and using smart data in lending and affordability. For a firm considering these ideas, the practical issues are what data can be accessed, whether the customer has meaningfully agreed to its use, how the information is protected, and whether it can be integrated into existing broker or lender systems. The source material does not establish a specific open-finance rollout, adoption rate or affordability outcome to expect from the event.

Fraud, AI and deepfakes

The reported agenda also raises how AI might help identify mortgage fraud and deepfakes. This is a question about both detection and risk: digital tools may assist checks, while synthetic or manipulated material may complicate identity and document verification. No independently attributable figure on mortgage-fraud prevalence, AI accuracy or savings is established by the cited event sources, so the theme should not be read as evidence that a particular detection system works or that fraud is increasing by a measured amount.

What should attendees look for in the technology discussion?

Rather than treating a demonstration or broad claim as proof of value, mortgage professionals can assess proposed tools against the needs of their own processes. Useful questions include:

  • Problem and evidence: What defined workflow or customer problem does the tool address, and what measurable outcome supports the claim?
  • Safeguards: What privacy, security, compliance and human-review controls apply, especially when an automated system handles sensitive information or influences a decision?
  • Integration: Can it work with existing broker, lender and protection systems, and what operational changes would that require?
  • Customer and adviser impact: Does it make the journey clearer or more accessible, and does it preserve meaningful adviser oversight?

Which mortgage technology firms are named in the awards?

Mortgage Strategy’s official 2026 awards results list firms including Knowledge Bank, Twenty7tec, One Mortgage System, L&G Ignite and Xplan Mortgage across categories such as mortgage submission platforms, origination technology, product sourcing innovation and protection technology or platforms. The awards page is the source for each organisation’s specific category and result. Recognition there does not establish that a company will exhibit or speak at MIT Live, nor that its products have been independently tested. See Mortgage Strategy’s 2026 awards results.
